Plain Jar No More

A plain lidded jar found at Goodwill.

A plastic Folger’s coffee jar in the background in the picture below.  It’s red lid sitting to the side.

An empty soup jar and an unsuspecting wooden finial.

IMG_4344_2077Transformed, with labels from The Graphics Fairy, some scrapbook papers, some tags.

Some Mod Podge to adhere the labels and paper to the jars, and a coat on top once that dried.  A light but fully covering coat.  Once dried a quick and careful clean up with a paint scraper razor leaves it looking clean and crisp.

IMG_7163_3803One or two little additions and I think I’ll call these done.  You see the round wooden knob I have on the red lid ~ I’ve changed my mind against that.  I still need to work on the genie-looking bottle in the background of this picture above.  It needs something special though, I think, and I’m waiting for that idea to hit me.

I love the one with the finial! I have some small bottles I need to makeover this weekend. Going back and forth as to whether to make them for Halloween or add a French touch to them. Decisions, decisions...

Those really turned out cute Kathy. I just used one of Graphic Fairies labels the other day for my first mod podge project of my own, which I've yet to post. I love how cute your jars come out. And to think someone somewhere is throwing one away while going to Hobby Lobby to pay $$ for a decorated one.

Have a lovely weekend. Hugs....Tracy :)

What a great idea, very creative! I would never have thought to glue a final on a plain jar but it worked out great! Thanks for sharing, Nan
