My Exciting News!

I gave my two week notice at the day job today! Woo-Hoo! If you follow my blog, you might remember my mentioning that our house went on the market back in March so that we could downsize.  We had planned to stay in the area.  At that time, we had plenty of time to sell and, if we didn’t, we would just take it off the market and wait.  Things have changed and it looks like we will be moving out of New York.

Ohio sign

Yes, Ohio!  Housing prices so affordable compared to Long Island that I can’t believe it.  My daughter, son-in-law and granddaughter will be moving with us!  They could actually afford to buy a house in Ohio, where they could not hope to do so for many years on Long Island.  It’s an opportunity that just cannot be passed up.

We should be there and in our respective homes by September.  It is a very exciting time, but I’m also feeling a bit of anxiety and stress over it.

I will be sharing some of the condos we’ve been looking at in my next post.  We are actually pretty much set on where and what we want, so our trip there to look at places in person went fairly quickly and smoothly.  I’m sure I’ll get dozens of blog posts out of this move, so I hope you’ll join me on this new journey in our lives!

Please keep your fingers crossed and/or say a prayer that the move goes smoothly!

Kathy

Congratulations! That is exciting news! You will be happy in Ohio I would predict. We lived in the Cleveland suburbs for about 5 years when our kids were small and we were very happy there. Looking forward to hearing how it all goes!

This is wonderful Kathy! Ohio is a wonderful place to work and live. I think you will like it. Which part of Ohio?

Our house has been on the market since May and we are thinking of getting a townhouse or condo in West Virginia and going on with our lives. Who knows when this house will sell and we are wasting time waiting on it to happen.

I know you are going to be busy, so keep us up to date.

hugs

So excited for you, especially since your daughter and her family are coming, too! I have to ask, though...how did you pick Ohio? Just the closest state that had a reasonable housing market? Or do you already have ties there?

Hi Kathy! How exciting! Where generally in Ohio are you going to be? We are right outside of Cincinnati in Northern Kentucky so I couldn't help but wondering if you'd be near us. :) Praying for a smooth move for you all and your daughter's family!

Congratulations on the big move! Welcome to Ohio...you'll love it here =) I'm about 40 min south of Cleveland...housing is definately less expensive here than New York, the whole cost of living will be so much better for you and your family.

Sounds exciting and acary at the same time, but I'm sure you wouldn't make this decision if it didn't feel right. I wish you all the luck in the world.

Are you going to continue your design work there?
