The new issue of House Beautiful was the inspiration for this week's Item Of The Week - wastebaskets. Yes, trash containers! Not like this:
But like this:
These are just a few of the 50 they highlight that caught my eye. Some of these are just too pretty to put trash in!
I'm sure you could re-purpose these trash cans to really enjoy them in other ways, too - to hold some extra fabric, rolled up and kept neatly in place; a faux (silk) plant container; a holder for those little umbrellas (the pop-up ones); craft supplies; kindling wood for starting your fireplace or wood stove; and, of course, you could use them as a trash can.
My trash would look hot in those. ;)
ReplyDeleteOh how I wish I could convert to something pretty like that! With a teen, tween and toddler, I think NOT! LOL
ReplyDeleteComing by from SITS with a big HELLO & Welcome!
It is the little touches like these that make a room special, yes? Love the aqua one.
ReplyDeleteWho knew garbage could look so good?! :-)
ReplyDeleteWhen we were in Belgium a couple of years ago, my hubby found the coolest trash can in a store we were in. For him to get excited about something in a home decor store was quite the moment!! So of course, I encouraged him to buy it!! It's gray and has hologram-looking letters all over it. If we ever finish my home office, I'll post pics of the room and you'll see the cool trash can in it :-)
Thanks for mentioning our giveaway in your sidebar :-)
Kelly
I agree Marie!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the welcome Aubrey! I would only use something like this for "dry" trash myself, unless I tucked a plastic bag inside it for protection.
Absolutely Kathy - those little touches can add that last something needed in a room.
Kelly ~ When they show an interest - go with it! I'd love to see your office when it's done.
Those gorgeous cans would NEVER survive in my house lol. Especially not with my preschooler!
ReplyDeleteI love the first one though. It promises to possibly be the only survivor lol
Just dropping by to welcome you to the SITStahood.
Very cute pails!
ReplyDeleteI understand Lisa - mine are grown up now so I can do these things! : ) Thanks for the welcome!
ReplyDeleteJackie, who knew you could make a statement with a trash pail!
Kathy, these are sooooo pretty! Makes me feel crafty! I have extra powder room wallpaper. Maybe I'll cover a cheap plastic paleto match the room. Hmmmm, what trim to finish it off with? Maybe gimp?
ReplyDeleteThanks for posting!
Leona ~ That sounds like a great idea! Such a creative mind you have! If you do it, you should post a pic; I'd love to see how it turns out.
ReplyDeleteAt first I was thinking, oh yeah, trash containers. Then I saw that last one! It reminds me of the one I use for a small Christmas tree each year, and I love that one!
ReplyDeleteHave a great holiday weekend,
Donna
They had even more on the website and magazine Donna! 50 actually. These were just a few that caught my eye. I like your use for it!
ReplyDeleteI loved that issue of House Beautiful as well! But I did miss that article! I like the last one on your list!
ReplyDeleteI love that there are so many styles and patterns to something as simple as a wastebasket!
ReplyDeleteOoooh those are some purdy trash cans!! Love them.
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting Sarah!
