After having a typical Monday morning this past Monday, my day magically turned around when I found this:
It was being thrown out! Can you believe it??? What were they thinking?
Except for the paper being ripped on the back and a quick clean-up, this 30 x 42 blackboard is a great find! I'm just going to take the rest of the paper off the back, and try to see what's going on with the decorative molding, which appears to have shipping tape on it {I guess I should be glad it's not duct tape!}. The butterfly will probably have to go.
To fully appreciate the value of finding this blackboard, destined for the trash heap, I went to one of my favorite websites and found this blackboard {an inch or two off in size, but the closest} with decorative frame from Ballard Designs, which is $229.00, plus extra shipping, for comparison.
Now to keep it hidden from hubby so he doesn't ask me why I'm bringing stuff into the house while we're trying to get rid of stuff to downsize!
Don't forget to enter our current giveaway ~ Bonjour Fleurette slippers! Ends this Thursday at midnight.
What a great find - I'm jealous!
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately the only thing people ever seem to throw out here are gross stained mattresses and broken laundry baskets!
What a terrific find! Thank you for saving it from the landfill.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your latest fun find. It's in great shape and when I saw it I immediately thought of Ballard Designs too. :)
ReplyDeleteGreat find! I am always amazed at what people throw out.
ReplyDeleteI love coming across fun fabulous finds for free! I have several of those tucked away in the garage, guest bedroom closet, under the bed, etc... Please keep us posted on where this gem ends up ...
ReplyDeleteKathy,
ReplyDeleteThis is so great. I have found a few goodies curbside also. Just un-does the MR. Thanks for your comment on the stone pedestals. I commented back with more information on how & why. Always good to visit with you & your marvelous blog!

That is such a great find! When of my new life missions is to start hunting for finds like this! Nice catch! great site btw...hope to see more tweets from you. I'm just now finally diving into all of this social networking!
ReplyDeleteThanks Heather! I couldn't believe it myself, because it was in such good condition.
ReplyDeleteI was really thrilled to find it, Laura.
Thanks, Marie! Yes, I could get in a lot of trouble on their website!
Dawn ~ I think it was the landlord (a man) who was clearing out an office that's been empty for several months now. I'm sure he didn't realize what he'd done! {Although, it worked out in my favor!}
ReplyDeleteHi Donna! I wish this was a more frequent occurrence for me. I'm kind of thinking kitchen in whatever house we move into.
Thanks so much, Lisa! That's was a great idea you had for the stone. I've been gardening in pots a lot more recently and that is a nice solution to bring them up a bit higher from the ground.
ReplyDeleteThanks Renee! This fell in to my lap, but I know people will get up early on trash pick-up days, hit the fancier neighborhoods and go "shopping".
As for the social networking - you'll catch on; I never thought I would get Twitter!
That's a delightful find, can't wait to see you work your magic.
ReplyDeletePerhaps you can even make it a magnetic board with magnetic paint!
ReplyDeleteIt's a good thing you rescued it! So great for a kitchen or an office!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Martha! Can't wait to use it somewhere!
ReplyDeleteThat would come in handy if I use it in my office, Nora!
A bit of clean-up and I think it will be ready to go, Maria!
Now that's worth bringing one more thing in the house! Even when downsizing. It'll be great when you get it all fixed up. Great score.

ReplyDeletep.s ADORE the black and white umbrella and pink chair you have featured, too! ;)
I agree, Donna! It doesn't take up much room anyway - it slides very nicely under the couch {and out of sight}.
ReplyDeleteThank you Chandra! Glad to have you!
Great find!!! I have been working on some myself, but getting it for free, nothing beats that!!!
ReplyDeleteIf you have a chance, come by my Blog for a visit and say hi!
Have a wonderful day,
Aimee
Hi Aimee ~ Thanks for stopping by!Absolutely - nothing beats free, except maybe sprucing up stuff you already own and changing it's look. Something else I plan on doing in the future.
