This is the sofa that I have in my living room. {Don't look at the picture over the sofa ~ it is too small but I needed something there and I grabbed it out of my dining room}.
It is so comfy and well made; I love this sofa.
I am not loving the color and pattern so much anymore. I am planning on having a white {washable} slipcover made for it.

I love white slipcovers and would love to slipcover my leather coaches. With 2 kids and a dog it will have to wait. The brown leather hides a multitude of sins that I'm afraid I white slipcover would not...at all. Your coach will look fantastic in her new slip. Can't wait for you to show her off.

ReplyDeleteYou're not alone, Beth! I know many people with kids who feel more comfortable using leather because it's easier to clean and/or hide those "sins". I may get that done over the winter so it will be ready for Spring next year.

I love the look of white slip covers too. I am starting to think about them for my sunroom which has the worlds most comfortable sofa and loveseat in it but the fabric is starting to look worn. I'm not even sure how to find someone to make one for me! Let us know how it goes for you!

ReplyDeleteFirst our kids wore out the fabric on our sectional. Grandma made white denim slip covers. My kids did unspeakable things to those too so Granny made another set using the first set as a pattern. The kids have now flow the coop, the sectional is gone. And now white slipcover are cool? They were always cool at our house.

I have an antique white sofa(no slipcover) that a local furniture store assured me would not stain, ha.I have 3 boys 10, 8, and 5 and in the last 3 years we have stained it from one end to the other. They conveniently forgot to tell me that it is Dry Clean only....the dumbest thing I have ever heard. Anyway, I would love to have some slipcovers, may have to check out your source.

ReplyDeleteOh my gosh, you must have been mad when you found out it was dry clean only, Angela. I had a light blue denim slipcover on a couch once, and it was great because it was washable.
Thanks, Amanda! I've been keeping not only pics I find online, but in magazines too. I'm finding many different style rooms that it's working with. I think if I go with a straight hem and pleats at each end {like the one from Pottery Barn and a couple of the Coastal Living pics}, I should be good.

Do it girl...you will LOVE them! I had white slipcovers made for a sofa, club chair and ottoman, this was about seven years ago and they are still in great condition. Do make sure that they are washable. Come over for a visit if you have the time, thanks.

ReplyDeleteI love white slipcovers too! I recently made a slipcover for my sofa (blogged about it here http://bibbidi-bobbidi-beautiful.blogspot.com/2009/08/tale-of-two-sofas.html). I still love the slipcover, but I bought beige linen on a whim and am wishing I had used white instead. Maybe I could bleach it? I love the idea of being able to wash a slipcover, but in reality it does take some effort to take it off, wash it, perhaps press it and put it back on. Do you sew?

ReplyDeleteI am SO wanting white slipcovered furniture in my living room. I live in a REAL cottage in Fairhope, AL, and I think it would look fantastic in here....Problem is that I currently have a BIG DARK HUGE VERY MANLY VERY HUGE leather sofa and an equally huge club chair.... I don't really want to get rid of the leather, and I sure can't slipcover it....it's great for my big boys and baby girls...it can go in the den, but I don't have the funds for new furniture. I DO have an antique Duncan Phyfe sofa that I can recover....Hmmmmm....I think I just had an idea!

ReplyDeleteIn the 80's you used to be able to get really good painters canvas cheap, cheap, cheap. There was a big trend - in this area anyway - for white slipcovers made with these cloths. My next door neighbor still has hers and they still look great. Amazing the quality of those old canvas drop cloths.... completely different than now... close to a 7.5oz denim!! You pulled a great collection of inspiration pics!
