Here's a graphic that I love and have wanted to use for a few months now. "Keep Calm and Carry On"; it's all over the place! So, when Karen over at The Graphics Fairy offered it up ~ and in two colors no less, I jumped on saving it until I decided how I wanted to use it.
After seeing it most recently over at Beth's The Stories of A to Z blog, I knew I wanted to do something similar.

Beth at The Stories of A to ZI found an old 8 x 10 frame in my closet, pulled out my package of black & white scrap book papers and printed the graphic out in a 5 X 7 size. I used the backing of the frame to measure the scrap book paper and cut that to fit. Then I just used my glue stick to glue the graphic onto the scrap book paper.
I realized afterward that it is not totally centered, but if it winds up bothering me that much I will just redo it. I really have to wear my reading glasses for everything now.
I love that this basically cost me nothing to make!
Whoops! Almost forgot. Got a bonus out of this, too. When I found the 8 x 10 frame I also found this 5 x 7 frame, which was the perfect size for Karen's Trick or Treat Owl!

ReplyDeleteThanks, PK! I had bought a package of various black and whites designs several weeks ago; I wanted to use one with more white than black because of the graphics' background.
Kristen, I never heard it before either until I started blog hopping! I do think the reminder is a good one.
The other one is pink, Shannon; I've seen them in many colors on etsy. I need to get some different scrap book paper to try the pink one, but I think I have a frame I can use for it.

Tammy ~ I originally printed it on white paper but the black didn't print well. So I wound up using HP photo paper {and they were both printed on the color printer}. The Halloween one is on regular paper and I just left that one.

Enjoyed your post and seeing how you used the graphics from Karen's site. I have a lot of black and white scrapbook paper and lots of thrift store frames so I think I'll "steal" the idea....thanks for the inspiration.

Hello, I have a question. What is the best way to print this for a poster? Save it and print it on reg white paper or is there another way? Can I print this right onto scrap book paper, that is already colored?

ReplyDeleteCheryl ~ I printed it on regular copy paper, but it didn't look right because of the black. I then printed it on my color printer using a low gloss photo paper. Not sure if it was the paper or the copier but it came out perfect. I have heard that you can print right on scrap book paper, but haven't done it myself yet. I guess it would depend on the pattern in the paper. I printed it 5x7 size, cut the scrapbook paper to 8x10 size, and glued it onto the scrapbook paper then framed it. Karen also has it in pink {I think I have the link in the pos} if that might work better for you. Hope this helped!
