A few months ago I posted about my ottomans, or “tuffets” as I call them, here. I showed a base for that post that was put together and it just needed paint, foam and fabric.
Tuesday I got some fabric that I had ordered from fabric.com. I bought this fabric to make a window valance for an upstairs bathroom.
Oxford Striped Shirting in Grey/White
P. Kaufman Aviary Toile in ebony
Braemore Liang Silver
Here they are all together.
Since I decided on the Braemore toile and stripe for the window valance, the Aviary toile was available for another project. Luckily, I remembered the base I had for a tuffet in my garage and, while I had my free quart of Glidden black paint open for my coffee table, I got the wood base and painted the legs on it black. {Don’t be peeking at the coffee table!}
I traced the top on the foam and cut it with a serrated steak knife. I put that on the top and then covered it with some batting, which I stapled to the underside of the round.
I cut out my fabric leaving enough extra fabric all the way around so that I could staple that to the underside as well. I also did a hole in the middle to do a tufted button, but I need to find the button kit to finish that off. I’m also thinking of adding some kind of trim.
I had everything except for the fabric and that cost $14.98 a yard.
So because of this:
