I started my rescued dresser project this weekend. She was all set for paint and I got my clear wax in the mail last week, so I was comfortable getting started.
I am looking for some input on one portion of the redo. My intention is to put baskets on the shelves {that my hubby added for me} to the two areas where drawers were missing. I found that I already had baskets that would fit, but they are a natural color.
I want to spray paint them and I am thinking either grey or black. My initial thought was black, but then I thought grey might be a bit more subtle. I’d like to get your input as to which you think would look better. Black or grey baskets? I will be adding tags with numbers to the baskets and the numbers are in black and the tags will be white or cream.
I still have to do the clear wax and I think I’m going to do the dark wax to bring out some of the detailing. So the next time you see the dresser she will be done!
Thanks for your input on the basket color!
Kathy
I think black will make them pop. I vote for black.

I vote gray!
ReplyDeleteHey Kathy~
ReplyDeleteThe dresser is looking great! I love the idea of using shelves and baskets.
I'm leaving behind all my painted black things, so that shows my prejudice in answering. :)
I would do them an off white or very light almost white gray. But it depends on where you are using it!
Your little gift card tins turned out so cute.
I vote gray, either in a lighter or darker tone.

Hmmm...that's a tough one...I'm thinking I like the idea of the gray just to keep things light and bright! Can't wait to see how it all turns out! :-)

Oh, it's looking wonderful!! I have no clue on what color for the baskets, Kathy, I'll leave that up to you very savvy decor followers :)

I would paint them the same color as the chest or an off white.
ReplyDeleteLovin' it so far. I'm sort of liking the gray idea.

Hm........have you thought about painting the baskets white then lining them with an assortment of black & white fabrics? Would that compliment the other things in the room?
ReplyDeleteI like the natural!
ReplyDeleteI'm liking Chris's idea about the white baskets (or light gray) and adding fabric inside (hanging over the edge) the baskets to coordinate with the room. You could still add the numbers too. Whatever you decide will look great I know! Kristen
ReplyDeleteHey! I vote gray! Love the tag idea. Even little chalkboard style tags would look good.
ReplyDeleteHi Kathy! :) Thanks for your comment on my chandy redo, I love it too. You def can't beat it for $5 bucks! :)
ReplyDeleteI LOVE your dresser! It really depends on where you're going to put your dresser as to what color you should paint the baskets, but I think (in my humble opinion. lol) they would look nice painted a soft gray and maybe do a black, white and gray striped fabric inside. (but I think anything you paint them is going to be gorgeous...great piece and you're doing a great job!)

Your dresser is looking gorgeous! I love how you've repurposed it. I would probably do white baskets or maybe even a color like aqua(something fun and different).
ReplyDeleteI vote for a rubbed gray that looks like they were weathered.....
ReplyDeleteAny way that you do them will look wonderful!!
