Christmas in July

I know, I know, but I’m making most of my gifts this year and I want to get started to make sure I have enough time.  I hate scrambling at the last minute and I plan on being fully ready and prepared this year.  This one is a neat and inexpensive project that I found over at Tales from an OC Cottage.   You can see them in their unfinished state to the right.

You start out with these card holders {or picture holders, which is what I’m giving it as} with a holly carving in the base on all four sides.

I spray painted them with Heirloom White and then picked out some scrapbook paper, which will cover the holly.  I decided to use the three designs I recently purchased ~ two of them are script papers and one is a music sheet paper.

I used Mod Podge to attach four pieces of scrapbook paper to each one, that I had cut to size to fit the base.  Here they are all dry and ready to go!

The music paper sheet was double sided and I used both sides on this one to make it a little more interesting.  I’ll be giving this one to my son’s girlfriend.  She’s the drummer in their band! {How cool is that!}.

Now it’s time to decorate them and add some personalization ~ tags, charms and pictures!  I added these things just for the pictures.  {I also added the shop vac hose in the background for atmosphere}.

Tags and those little packages of charms, even jewelry charms, would work great.  If you have a picture of the gift’s recipient that would make for a nice touch.

These make for a great gift for under $10.00.

  6. Oh, they're so cute! I use to make all my gifts. I don't do much gift-giving any more. Kids are grown. I give the little grandkids money. Then Mom is responsible and not me!
