Condo’s To Consider

To follow up to my post here, where I talked about our moving to Ohio, I thought I’d show you some of the condos we’ve been looking at.  Springboro is the area of Ohio we will be looking in and there is a lovely community called Settlers Walk that contains single family homes as well as condos.

settlerswalk

These are what the condo’s look like and they come in 3 bdrm/2bath or 2bdrm/2bath; two car garage; and sunroom.   Some of them have a study/office {the one we chose does} as well as quite a bit of storage.  We went with a 2 bedroom unit, which is 1790 square feet.  About half of the square footage on my current home.

I love that they look just like a house!

The area has shopping very close by, medical offices, YMCA, community pools, lakes, playgrounds, and many other amenities within walking distance.

These pictures are from various condos that are on the market there.  This is the study/office.

They don’t all have white cabinets.  I’ve seen a couple of different cabinet finishes, as well as this white.  Mine has creamy white cabinets!

The master bedroom in one unit.  Not a very exciting picture, but it’s a good size room with the master bathroom and large walk-in closet.

Master bathroom.  To the right is the linen closet and the open doorway right next to that is a pocket door which is where the toilet and shower are.  Straight ahead is the huge walk-in closet.

Living room/den open to kitchen and a dining area.   The sunroom is off of here to the left.

View of utility room with bonus storage room at the end.  That storage room is what I would make into my craft/sewing room!  Very excited about that!

Once we actually get into ours, I will take pictures of it and the details that stood out to us.  I’ll need “before” pictures anyway!

I’d love to hear from anyone who lives in or near Springboro.  I don’t know anything about Ohio having lived in New York my whole life!

Bonus ~ there is a Hobby Lobby in the area!  We don’t have Hobby Lobby in New York and I will finally get to visit one in person.  I’m very excited about that and I’m sure I will be like a kid in a candy store on my first visit there!

  4. Looks gorgeous and I agree, so nice that they look like individual houses. Great floorplan also. I am giggling, because we downsized to 1/2 the sf. and I am about rummy. It seems like you take 3 steps and you have crossed the whole house. Good luck. I am sure you will make it beautiful. Hugs, Marty

  9. Hi Kathy,
I really like your new place and I just know you are going to have so much fun decorating!

I'm from West Virginia, which is right on the border of Ohio. People from Ohio are very friendly and down-to-earth. I think you will like it once you adjust to your new lifestyle.

  11. The condos look great, can't wait to see what your looks like, I am sure you will decorate it greatly. I am ready to downsize too, don't have time to keep this huge house cleaned like I would like it. Will look into that later I suppose. Oh.......Hobby Lobby, sign up for their email, and you can print off coupons, sometimes for 40% off an item of original price!

  14. My nephew and his family live in Lebanon, Ohio which is fairly close to you and they love that area. Lots of Antique shops. I checked to see where it was in relationship to Pittsburgh but it's far, far from me. My son and daughter-in-law live on Long Island...I could never take the fast pace and fast driving there. You know that Elizabeth of Creative Breathing is in Delaware, Ohio...doesn't look too far from you. Good luck with your move. Your new condo looks lovely and I agree with everyone else, it sure looks like a single family home. We will downsize, retire and move next year....lots of work!

  15. Wow! Your new condo is the same size as my current house! I used to wish for a bigger house, but I don't anymore. Smaller is better for us....less to clean and keep up with and more time for living! Those condos look beautiful Kathy! You must be lying awake at night decorating your new home in your head...I know I would be! Congrats! I am so excited for you! Angie xo

  18. Hi Kathy ~ We live in a suburb of Columbus, OH so we are probably about 2 hours from Springboro. It is a very affordable part of the country to live in ~ I think you will like it! Love the condo with all of the windows and light coming in! If you have any questions about Ohio living, I would love to hear from you! Good luck with your move!

  19. Looks like a fantastic community, Kathy. Wow. I'm not sure I could handle not only a house move but a total relocation at this time in my life. But getting to totally start over and decorate and entire house would be fun! It's great that your daughter and her family will be going along. You'll definitely be provided with lots of blogging material soon!

  20. WOW...these are condo's? They are gorgeous! I love how they don't look like a condo. In SD they are all 2 or three stories stacked up on top of each other. lucky you!

Regarding the country grey.....it's not grey at all it's more of a beige...if your looking for a grey I would go with paris grey....I was suprised when I opened the box but I still LOVE the color...it's very french :)

  26. Oh my gosh where have I been, Ohio huh?! I know nothing about it other than it will be a culture shock probably for you. ;) I wish you well!

  27. Wow Kathy, that looks a lot bigger than 1800 sqft. I love the layout, and it's so open. Great for entertaining. I'm sure it'll be quite the adjustment to downsize (going thru the shrinking pains myself), but in the end, it'll be great.
    Good luck with the move!
