I decided to tackle the craft room one afternoon this past week. This is the mess it was and there was hardly any room to move around in here, much less being able to craft or sew!
I moved a couple of the bins out so that I could move things around a little. I decided to put my ribbons in the cabinet drawer right outside the craft room {in the laundry area} since I would like to keep my gift wrapping supplies in this area anyway.
I measured, cut and put down some drawer liner that we had.
It holds my ribbons nicely and there is even room if I get more.
I put some tissue paper and miscellaneous wrapping paper in the bottom portion, which has the slide out drawer.
Then it was onto the craft room itself! I did wind up making up a “donate” pile and a “trash” pile because I really didn’t need everything that was in here.
I put my screen in place {that was in the living room in my old house}.
It works here to hide my roommates.
I also moved the smaller table over to the wall opposite the longer table. The longer table will be getting a toile skirt, which will allow me to store a few things underneath it.
I still have to open that box and take my sewing machine out, get a few more storage boxes and do a general clear up, but at least it’s a start! I can actually stand in there and turn without knocking something over. And, get a picture from the craft room looking back to the kitchen!
The next time I show you this room it should be done!

Congratulations on making this much progress, Kathy! I know it must be a relief to be making these new spaces work for you. I know I would love to have a craft space like yours--especially the way you have it set up with your "roommates" so cleverly disguised!
ReplyDeleteHope you're enjoying your new home!
How exciting, Kathy, to finally have a craft room!

Wow, this looks great! You have done an amazing job on your new home! I know it can be quite a challenge to place items bought for another home, but you have made it look great and so easy! I love your new craft space, Kathy!
ReplyDeleteYour making great progress!
ReplyDeleteKeep on trucking Kathy! I'm trying to get my space organized, because I have to paint and install the laminate in the next few weeks! Agh!
ReplyDeleteVery nice progress. I too store my ribbons the same way. Great minds... :)

ReplyDeleteWow...you got a lot done! it looks very nice and organized. I still haven't finished my kitchen, it's amazing how much I had crammed in the cabinets and now I am loving them nice and neat. You should see the pile in the family room. Well, maybe tomorrow!!

ReplyDeleteKathy, isn't it great to have a crafting space of your own? Love what I see, so far! I can't wait to see how it turns out! Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteOh- How nice that you can share the space-even if you do have a roommate that gets all heated up! You will have a wonderful time creating in there once you are fully set up. It's gonna be great! xo Diana
ReplyDeleteHi Kathy...
ReplyDeleteYou have such a nice space for crafting, my friend! Ohhh my...reading your post made me think about how I need to do some organizing and rearranging in my craft room as well! I don't know why...but it seems to be my "catch all" room...know what I mean? Hehe! Anyway, your craft room is looking so organized. I love how you used the drawers to organize your ribbon spools! Great idea...it makes them very visible and easy to get to! Love the idea of a toile skirt around the larger table! Of course, I love toile! That will make another really nice storage area for you! Thanks for sharing your craft room with us...BRAVO!!!
I just read the sweet note that you left on my Thanksgiving table, my friend! Thank you so much for coming by...I really enjoyed your sweet note, Kathy!
Warmest autumn wishes,
Chari
I am in the process of moving my 'stuff' into another room. Now that I see how talented you are at organizing, want to attempt some here?!
