Before I show you the finished state of the mirror I painted to use in our master bedroom, with my newly painted Duck Egg dresser, let me show you what it looked like in my old house. It started out originally gold.
Then I wanted a change from the gold and after getting some blog inspiration, I painted it Oil Rubbed Bronze with Antique Gold Rub N Buff on the embellished areas.
I loved how the Rub n Buff really made the decorative parts of this mirror stand out. Now, in its new incarnation ~
I brought the Antique Gold Rub n Buff back out to do the detailed areas again, since I covered them up with this paint job. I may be adding more because it looks like the wax took some of it off.
Here’s the full view of this area.
After I had painted the dresser {even with just the first coat}, I realized how well the color went with the pictures I have hanging up. If you notice, the frames have an antique gold, which prompted the hardware on the dresser being antique gold.
I think I need sconces or something similar in between the mirror and the pictures.
I’ve still got a few other things planned for this room, but will get to it as I find stuff. I’m happy with it for now!

ReplyDeleteThere's nothing better than revamping items as your taste and decor changes. This frame was great in both transformations, but don't be afraid of taking out the mirror for the best paint job. Love the new blue with the beautiful dresser vignette.
ReplyDeleteThe mirror looks absolutely awesome. BTW, a friend of mine saw your dresser on my blog and has a similar piece of furniture and is going to finish it the same as yours. You have completely and totally inspired her!!

ReplyDeleteHi Kathy, you are brave to paint your gold mirror (when something looks so good "before", I get a little nervous). Anyway, your bedroom is turning out so pretty, I can't believe how well your pictures go with the new blue, too.
ReplyDeleteThanks for using AMACO's Rub 'n Buff on each of your mirror transformations! I can't decide which version I prefer, but the blue is definitely a great look for your room.
