French Tabletop Mannequin

I’ve been keeping my eyes open for a tabletop size mannequin for my craft/sewing room.   I haven’t found anything I like so far, so I decided to dress up  my own.  I found this paper mache dress form in the jewelry section at Joann’s {they also carry fabric ones in the sewing section, but I didn’t care for the fabrics on them}.

I pulled out some scrapbook paper that I already had of document papers and motifs in a black and natural background, some Mod Podge and a sponge brush.

I decided that if I had gotten a fabric one, the stand would be black, so I used the black background paper on the “stand” portion on mine.  I had all different sizes and strips of the paper to get this portion filled in.

I then cut the natural background paper into strips to, hopefully, attach them a little more easily to the mannequin.   On the curved areas I snipped into the pieces so that they would fit the “body” a bit more easily.

Here she is totally covered!  Once it was all covered, I did a top coat of the Mod Podge over the whole thing.

I tried to use a full image on the back at least.

I couldn’t leave it alone there!  I added a blingy button {I cut the back off} to the neck area.

And made a mini apron for her to wear.

I had this iron-on already done and in a folder where I keep extras and I thought it worked perfect for this project, especially since it is going in my sewing room and I embellish aprons!

The apron is just a little Osnaberg scrap, as is the ruffle, and the black and white check is a thin ribbon I had in my supplies that fit the size perfectly.

I think it’s cute and pretty at the same time!
