I wanted to share a few of the gifts I got for Christmas this year. One of my favorites is this clock that I purchased from Amy at Maison Décor’s online shop. I bought it for my husband to give to me {it’s just so much easier that way!}.
It goes perfectly with the Duck Egg chalk paint I’ve used in our master bedroom. It is sitting on the half round accent table I did in Duck Egg with clear and dark waxes. I also got some great new decorating books from my Mom.
Including this Alice book that has lots of things to make. I’m sure there will be many projects I make from this book that will wind up in this year’s Mad Hatter Tea Party post {here is 2012 and 2011}.
My sister-in-law gave me these fleur hooks and fleur coasters.
I also got a Kindle {which I swore I would never use} from my husband. So far I have purchased two books for it and am currently reading one of them. The jury is still out! I think everyone knows what they look like, but here’s a picture from the Amazon website.
So one of my first sewing projects this year will be to make a cover/sleeve for it using fabric I already have. I’m trying to be good about using what I have on hand before I buy things. I just need some iron-on fleece interfacing and I’ll be good to go. This is similar to one I want to make {except in different fabric}.
Now, I’m just waiting for a quiet day to sit with some hot chocolate and look through my new decorating books!
You got some great gift Kathy. Love the clock too, what a pretty color. Happy weekend to you.
ReplyDeleteThose are some great gifts. I love the clock especially. I got the Kindle last year and I now love it. I can't wait to see your tutorial on how to make a cover. I may change mine out after I see what you come up with.
ReplyDeleteYour family hit it right with all those gifts. Totally YOU! Love that clock.
ReplyDeleteGreat gifts! Love that pretty little clock! :)
ReplyDeleteLove the clock and the books Mom gave you! I did my own shopping this year too but I was waiting for the after Xmas sales so I only got a blanket, socks and undies. LOL!

You did good. Great gifts. The clock is wonderful, such a pretty color. Great decor books too. I would enjoy those. Hugs, marty
ReplyDeleteLucky you! The Alice book looks like a fun one!...and your clock is perfect for your room!
ReplyDeleteWonderful gifts you received! LOVE the clock!!!
ReplyDeleteI am reading a book on my ipad. I prefer the real thing BUT and as often as I read books I think I will read on my ipad more often as it's always in my hand ha ha ha
xoxo
Lovely gifts, all, Kathy. Don't feel bad ~ I, too, am getting good at "finding" gifts for my husband to give to me!
ReplyDeleteOh that clock! Time stood still for me. :)
ReplyDeleteVery nice gifts. I love that clock! such a pretty color. I can't wait to see what you come up with for your kindle cover! ~ Jamie
ReplyDeleteNICE treasures, Kathy!
ReplyDeleteI have been working on some pics to share a few things I received as well - it's fun to see the things people get for Christmas.
LOVE that clock.
Looks like you are well loved to receive so many wonderful gifts. The clock is very pretty and dare I say your "husband" is a good picker. Hee hee. I'll have to look up the French book because the cover looks lovely. I have so many craft and sewing supplies that one of my goals this year is to hopefully make a dent in using these things up! Seems it's so easy to buy new things, but hard to find the time to make things.
ReplyDeleteThese gifts are just perfect for you, I love the clock and the decorating book look great, let us know how you like them.
ReplyDeleteI got s lot of candles, they know me well!
XO,
Jane
My husband swore he would never use a Kindle, either...he's such a book lover,(One day I'll show the billions of books in our basement.) but he loves his Kindle and is on his second. He also bought himself a Kobo for Christmas and loves it.
ReplyDeleteYou got some really great gifts there!
Love that clock and your other gifts. I got a Kindle Fire HD. My husband bought the case for it. It was $60 and it was the wrong size. I took it back....just too much money. Then I realized that it had to have something to cover it. I looked online for a handmade one but didn't find it.....so if you make yours put some in your etsy. I found some online and ordered one but it hasn't come yet. I was upset that it didn't come with the charger and an instruction book. Hoping I can figure it all out. Happy New Year.
ReplyDeleteWhat pretty gifts you received Kathy! I love your clock!! I got a I-Pad for Christmas and I haven't had time to really sit and play with it. It's been crazy busy around here! I would have never thought that my booth would have done as well as it has. My space looks terrible and I'm trying to get things done so that I can restock it. Enjoy your Kindle and hope you have a wonderful weekend, Gail
ReplyDeleteI got the flu and spent my Christmas in the hospital. We have not had Christmas yet. We have 3 different families; one lives 4 yrs. away.
ReplyDeleteI purchased a Kindle for my husband is there any way you could send me the pattern. I would sew something that either male/female cover. To purchase a cover they are over $34 dollars. my email is duenml@comcast.net. Thank you Linda
Great gifts, that clock is gogeous, I love it so much.
ReplyDeleteCynthia

ReplyDeleteLove all your gifts, Kathy, and that turquoise clock from Amy is WONDERFUL!!!!
ReplyDeleteI am waiting for a quiet day to sit and rest, too. Think we'll ever get one? xo Diana
I LOVE your clock...lucky you!
ReplyDeleteI love the clock too, but I have to say I never think of buying things from my own store for my home....except for my mora....that might have to change! I also have the HERS book, and I think you will enjoy it~quite an interesting perspective and filled with lots of pretty photos from the editor of Romantic Homes magazine.
ReplyDeleteI also Love your new clock! Nice gifts you rec'd. Love real books!
ReplyDeleteHappy Weekend.

You received some great gifts, Kathy! I love that clock, and may just have to buy one for myself! Is it battery or electric? Love the decorating books, too. I hope you learn to enjoy your kindle- I love mine, though I don't think decorating books or magazines would be too great on it. I've gotten dozens of free books on my kindle, rarely actually pay for one.
ReplyDeleteLOL, you bought it for your husband to give to you! Looks like your family really know you well. I don't have a kindle, would love to know what you think! Oh, good luck on the dress form drawing
ReplyDeleteCarol
I'm still not sure about this Kindle thing either. It breaks my heart when my favorite Barnes and Nobles are closing left and right. I guess it's okay for reading novels but decorating books need to be touched to be absorbed. At least that's my opinion. That clock is to DIE for.
ReplyDeleteKathy looks like you made out great! Let us know how you like your new books. I am always a sucker for a beautiful book or two. Hope your New Year is going well!:)
ReplyDeleteHi Kathy, Happy New Year. You sure got some wonderful gifts. I have the French Chic book and love it.
ReplyDeleteThe clock is gorgeous and I love the color and use it also in our master during the spring and summer months. It is so peaceful.
I also got a kindle for my birthday last Feb. I said the same about getting one, but now that I have it, I love it and especially that you can read in bed with no light on.
Have fun reading your new books.
Hugs, CM
LOVE the clock, Kathy! I want one too! lol... :)

I love the clock and I always love to get nice books for Christmas.
ReplyDeleteCarolyn
Wonderful Christmas gifts Kathy! The clock is just adorable and I'm so glad I'm not the only wife who is Santa's little helper for her husband!!!
ReplyDeleteYou need to find out if your local Library subscribes to Overdrive, lots of FREE downloads for your new Kindle and you only need a library card to log in to the database;)
Have fun playing with your new toys!
Diana
Hi Kathy! As many ladies who commented before, I´m totally in love with your new clock, but I liked very much the fleur-de-lis hooks also. I´m glad to make a humble contribution to such a beautiful world all of you ladies have created on Blogland...

LOL! I too said I'd never use a Kindle and my husband gave me one last year for Christmas. I still prefer real books, especially if they've got photos. I do like the free books available and when I've just got have a book now - it's great.
ReplyDeleteLove the clock! It's so beautiful! I do a bit of gift getting just like you :D
You will love your kindle. I have the Nook and am on it now checking on friends.

Beautiful gifts!
ReplyDeleteI have had a Kindle for two years now, and I said I would never touch one!
If you are on Facebook, or you can go directly to this site, they find different free Kindle books on AMAZON, (approx. 14 per day), some are good, some not, but hey, they are free, it's fun, easy and again, FREE!
