Garage Sale Corner Shelf Makeover

I found this corner shelf piece at a yard sale for $2.00.  I was so happy because I haven’t had much luck finding low priced furniture {or any furniture} at yard sales in recent weeks to make over for my booth.  It’s not real wood, but I thought a paint makeover would help it out.

I only had a little bit of Old White chalk paint left so I mixed what I had with white latex paint.  I also added in a little bit of brown to keep it from being too bright white.  That basically gave me a light grey {or a dingy white}.  I gave it two coats of paint and the chalk paint that I added in seemed to help give the mix a chalk paint feel and consistency.

I brought it in from the garage to take some finish shots for you and added a few things from the house to dress it up.

It’s got a nice look to it and I think this would work well in a bathroom, small entry or small room where you could use some display space.

I’m just going to give it a coat of a clear wax and then it is off to the booth.

  13. Very cute Kathy. It's getting harder to find affordable pieces of furniture for resale. Guess more people are repurposing their furniture.

    Should sell quickly.

  21. What a difference it made to paint it. You wouldn't even know that it's not real wood. I'm sure it won't last long in your booth.

  22. Well done. The white purifies somehow. I am sitting here by two similar pieces that I need to be working on. I do have one old solid wood piece that is turquoise with orange under it. I shall try just to sand and sand some more. xoxo, olive
