This is probably the first year that when I say I’m going to keep things “simple”, I really am keeping things simple! I have left about 75% of my decorations in their bins and hope to go through them all after Christmas and donate some stuff. So here are some bits and pieces of Christmas in our home this year.
I just want to pick up a bunch of fresh greens at the grocery store, which I will put here and there (and on the mantel top). It will fill in the “white” spaces nicely and I love the smell. Maybe next year I will be more in the mood and will just go crazy with my decorating!
Very pretty, Kathy. You and I have several of the same decorations. :)
ReplyDeleteIt all looks lovely Kathy. I went simple this year too. I haven't posted much because it has been cloudy here all week and it was had to get pictures.
ReplyDeleteP.S. did you know that you have your captcha on and I have to type in numbers to prove I am not a robot?
Your bits and pieces look great! The tree is pretty and I like the carolers on the mantel. I started out saying the same thing about keeping it simple somehow I found myself doing more and more. I already did some sorting out and took things to Goodwill but I could let go of more. I say go with your heart- whatever feels best to you is what's important! Happy Holidays!

ReplyDeletethat looks beautiful Kathy.
I think you chose to use just enough to catch the eye and make it feel like the holiday without going overboard.
Kathy, your holiday touches are lovely! There is a lot of simplification going on this year. I didn't put out nearly the number of things that I usually do; and I love it! Your home still looks warm and festive!
ReplyDeleteSo festive Kathy! I say simpler every year and I have yet to accomplish that ;)

Oh I love it, I think it is the perfect amount. Your tree is fabulous and I totally adore you kitchen tree.
ReplyDeleteOh, Kathy! Everything is so pretty!
ReplyDeleteBe a sweetie,
Shelia ;)
What you've done so far looks beautiful Kathy! Sometimes too much can be just that - too much - anyway. Love your tree!!
ReplyDeleteYour decorating is so pretty, Kathy! Your home is SO lovely and feels very Christmas-y! I haven't taken out very many decorations for several years, and this year I had one of those "I want to DECORATE" years lol! It's fun to decorate each year, just how you are feeling, and not put pressure on yourself.
ReplyDeleteYour home is beautiful. I especially love the top hat.
ReplyDeleteEverything looks great! I kept a lot of stuff in our bins too. Wanted to keep it simple too. I have a box set aside for either a garage sale or donation.

Lovely Kathy! I think simple was the theme this year, including me. I didn't decorate like I usually do. I just don't have the energy and I dread taking it all down!
ReplyDeleteYour home is simply beautiful Kathy!!...I am doing the same thing with my many bins of Christmas decor...
ReplyDeleteI love all of your simplicity, Kathy!
ReplyDeleteThat was my exact intention, too, this year. It almost happened because I did leave a lot in my bins. I must have an awful lot of stuff because "simple" just didn't happen for me!
Enjoy the beauty of your simplified decor this season!
JP
Very pretty! I love the turquoise coat that Santa has. I don't put it all out every year. I try to rotate things. xoxo
ReplyDeleteHi Kathy, I love your home for Christmas.
ReplyDeleteSo many special touches that make it so inviting and cozy. Love your baker Santa. I have one very similar.
Your tree is gorgeous. I think a lot of us are doing a simpler style this year.
I didn't use everything this year either.
Have a great evening.
Hugs
Kathy your home is lovely as always! We downsized earlier this year and I donated over half of my decorations. When it came time to decorate, I only put half of what I saved out...I'm thinking of paring down again as well! Happy Holidays to you and your family
ReplyDeleteKathy, your home is so festive! I love your choice of Christmas decorations! I love the key for Santa; I'm going to copy your idea! Your living room looks so warm and inviting! Your tree is so pretty!
ReplyDeleteI am doing the same thing this year, Kathy. Just too much going on and not enough hours in the day. I hope to start decorating tomorrow. That Santa in the blue is perfect! It is the color I have just used in my family room - first time I have had any blue in 30 years! xo Diana
ReplyDeleteI love that you are keeping it simple instead pulling out things just for the sake of it. I think there is something to be said for doing what one feels like each year instead of doing what one does every year when it comes to decor. Very wise!
ReplyDeleteEach year I put out less and less and once again this year I took some Christmas decorations to goodwill! Your home looks very nice. Just the rot amount of touches.
ReplyDeleteSimple is good and just as festive! Your home looks lovely for Christmas, Kathy!
ReplyDeleteMary Alice
I too plan to keep it simple this year. Your decorations are beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI love all your pretty touches, Kathy!
ReplyDeleteI have donated 4 bins of holiday stuff this year. But I am missing some things and am a little anxious I may have purged the wrong one. I cannot find it - missing my mom's nativity she gave me the last Christmas before she passed...I have treasured it for 20 years........ugh, praying!!
It feels good to do less, but I still should get rid of more - a tidier holiday is prettier, but it isn't easy, is it? So many things have such good memories attached.
I keep tweaking too, we'll see, haha.
love your top hat and santa key, kathy:) and your tree is just lovely! (you know what?, my greenery doesn't "smell" this year--weird) merry christmas to you!
ReplyDeleteI think your simple holiday decor is just perfect. The photo of your living room with the fire in the fireplace says it all: cozy, glowing, and beautiful.
ReplyDeleteKathy everything looks so pretty!!
ReplyDeleteYour tree is gorgeous. Your living room looks so cozy.

I'm with you, Kathy. I just felt like less is more this year. And my Christmas decorating style is evolving just as my overall home decorating style has evolved over the years. Thought I'd take this year and figure it all out:) Your home looks lovely. Greens really do add that je ne sais quoi around this time of year. I always decorate with them. That I don't think will ever change:)

I like simple, and I even started out that way! I think some of my rooms are and some aren't! Your home looks ever so pretty, and compliment your beautiful home!
ReplyDeleteSimplistic and lovely, Kathy! You've added the perfect amount of Christmas to make your home feel warm, welcoming and full of the holiday season! Happy Holidays!
ReplyDeleteEverything looks SO lovely Kathy, especially your picture of the Christmas tree! I love the key for Santa and may have to make something like it to hang on my front door . . . IF I have any time left before the kids come. Thanks for sharing dear lady. I hope you are thoroughly enjoying this wonderful Christmas season.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Patti
Kathy, your decor is just beautiful! Perfect all around!
ReplyDeleteI think the goal is to make a home festive and Christmasy...And you have accomplished both even if you feel it is simple. Everything looks perfect. Happy Weekend.
ReplyDelete❤️Ana
Kathy,
ReplyDeleteI went simple this year too and love it! We can have a festive home without going crazy and storing bins of things away, just to bring in a ton of Christmas décor. You have done a beautiful job this year, so enjoy it!
Blessings,
Linda
Kathy, I'm all about 'simple' too. I think your decor looks great- love the balls under the cloche! :)
ReplyDeleteSusan
Kathy - Love your Christmas décor. Looks so cozy and inviting.
ReplyDeleteJudy
It's all beautiful, Kathy. Looks like you're in good spirits to me. All I have so far is the tree up. Thanks for sharing your holiday decor.
ReplyDeleteThis year we downsized and I gave away so many of our decorations. Our Christmas decor goes beyond simple...it is practically non existent!
ReplyDeleteYour home looks just perfect. Sometimes enough is enough.
Well everything looks pretty and there's much to be said for keeping t simple.Your home still looks festive without tons of stuff and then you can do other fun stuff instead of putting things away!
ReplyDeleteWe did our tree over the weekend and went through our ornament bins and donated a bunch (but I still have 3 small ornament bins!).
Lovely and elegant - like you.
