Under Construction

Our mini makeover in the master bathroom has started here.  Spackling has been done and the ceiling is going to be painted first.  By the time you read this, I am hoping the walls are painted.

My husband removed the countertop that was in between the two sink vanities and we are going to put a cabinet type of thing in that empty space.

He will frame out the two sides of the mirror to make it look like it is two mirrors without having to remove the whole long mirror. Kind of like this idea except that middle section would be a separate piece of furniture.

Bathroom--cabinet between mirrors- I'd like it better as a closed in cabinet to hide stuff. This would work in our master bath

I have found a piece online that I was able to order locally and I look forward to sharing that with you once the bathroom is all done. The only downside is that it can take up to 4 weeks.  Something like these ideas would be great.

New vanity tops are on the list besides the painting going on in here.

I’m sure he will be working on this all week.  I already can’t wait for it to be done!

  3. What a great idea to frame the large mirror as two separate ones! Our master bath has the mother of all wall mirrors and I've always wished it were two separate mirrors instead. I'll be really interested to see how it goes for you. Good luck!

  4. I can't wait to see what you come up with Kathy! I love the idea of something with doors and charm to it that makes it feel even more like its own piece of furniture.

  5. Aren't you brave, Kathy! It's going to be wonderful! I would go with the cabinet with the doors below and glass above, simply because there's only so much that can be stored in an appealing way, and besides, towels in the bottom open shelves I would think they wouldn't stay very clean--just sharing my ideas as you mull them all. :) Can't wait to see the end result!! ~Zuni

  6. Hi Kathy, your bathroom is going to be fabulous. You will love the framed mirror. We did that to one of ours and it looked amazing. How great to put the cabinet in the center. So much more storage and we can all use that.
    Love all your inspirational pics

  14. Oh how exciting- this is going to be a completely different space, Kathy! I am so happy for you.

We have our youngest daughter's wedding in the summer so I have had to stop my big dreams, so settled just before the holidays on repainting the master bathroom and taking down the mirrors and putting up new ones - it's given me a nice change without the huge expense - but next year it's new countertops and gutting shower and redoing, it needs it soon.

Looking forward to watching your progress on this space! ♥
