I’ve been wanting to paint our knife block for some time. I finally decided to go ahead and do it. So quick and easy, and it’s back in business by the end of the day. Here it is before. A typical knife block.
I had some Old White chalk paint so decided to use that.
After I painted it, I thought that it could do with a little something more. I found I had a black and white harlequin scrapbook paper and decided to add this to the sides and a square on the front. I Mod Podged this on.
I also wanted to add a little something to the front and decided to use one of the Tim Holtz ornate plates I had in my craft supplies.
I added in a label that says “Knives”, just in case we forget what they are. Actually, I printed up two. I liked this one in a font called “Matter of Fact”, which kind of looks like it has dripping blood. I know, very macabre, but hey, my birthday’s Halloween, so I’m allowed. Besides, I think it is a fitting font for “knives”!
I did decide to use this font done in “Clipper Script Fat”, which is a pretty script.
I printed the wording out on ivory card stock. I hot glued the whole thing, card stock and plate, onto the knife block.

I love how it turned out. It’s like I got a brand new one.
The best thing was that this project cost me $0, because I already had everything I needed on hand! Simple, quick, easy and free! What’s better than that?

I love the fact that you just decoupaged this intricate design, Kathy and to think that I struggled to make my bar stool by hand painting it. I sure could have save a ton of time by doing it your way! Pinned it!

Kathy, this is the cutest idea! I love the Harlequin design! You had me fooled, I thought you painted it! I'm going to do this to the one I have at the beach! Thank you for sharing it; I would have never thought to do this! This one should be in a magazine too!
