I went right up to the few days before Fall officially began before I brought out my decorations. Of course, this week it is going to be in the 80’s and humid again!
I realize more each year that I am okay with keeping the seasonal decorations simpler. When my kids were young and at home there was definitely more. I think I put out even less this year than last, and, even now, I feel like I could take one or two things away and be fine with it.
I haven’t bought anything new for Fall in a couple of years, so I’m using what I’ve got and not all of it came out of the bins. No, that’s wrong ~ I did buy this little cream colored pick-up truck {CVS} so I could use it with the little pumpkins I have for crafting and then, come Christmas time, I can also use it for some little bottle brush trees.
Some decorations I set up just like I did last year and some I changed up a little bit. In another couple of days, I will add the bits of Halloween in and then they can come away easily ~ without leaving any gaps ~ and it will just be Fall again.
I’ve got mums in the garden urns outside by both entrances. I tried to pick those with mainly buds, but just where you could see what color the flowers will be. They are just starting to bloom now. Purple for the front door area.
And a mix for the garage door urn. Right now it looks predominantly yellow, but there is purple, copper, rust, the yellow, and I thought I saw a couple of the cranberry red buds.
I can’t believe it is the end of September already!
Do you keep Fall decorating simple or do you go “all out”?
love it all, Kathy.. you do Fall Just Right..
ReplyDeletesubtle and beautiful.
Your fall decor is so pretty and I adore that little white truck. When our kids and grandkids were little I always went way out decorating for the holidays. Now that they are adults and teenagers I have cut back on the decorating.
ReplyDeleteKathy, I love your Fall decorations! You have a lovely home and it looks beautiful accented for Fall! I'm trying to simplify my seasonal decorating. I have far too much and really need to get rid of some of it. I adore you tiny truck; it's a treasure and will look so cute at Christmas too!
ReplyDeleteLove your fall. I keep mine really simple and really neutral. Can hardly tell it's fall decor at all. haha
ReplyDeleteI love that truck! I keep fall simple here too.
ReplyDeleteThis is lovely, Kathy...and I love your little truck! I mostly decorate with color and plants...little touches go a long way, don't they? Happy fall!
ReplyDeleteThat little truck with the pumpkins is adorable! Did they have it in red????
ReplyDeleteJ
Love your little cream truck, which is perfect all year for decorating with! I do put up a little Halloween and then some "turkey decor".
ReplyDeletewarmly,
deb
Hi Kathy,
ReplyDeleteAll your fall is so cute. I love the little white truck. I have a white truck like that now I am thinking I need to find some cute pumpkins for it. Have a good week.
Kris
Like you Kathy, since the kids left the nest I've been scaling down on my Fall decor too. I am swooning over those adorable hats on the busts. I would get rid of a few more things if it meant having those displayed instead! Love the script covers on your books and the fabric (satin or silk) pumpkins. Very nice Fall mantelscape!
ReplyDeleteLove the truck of pumpkins! I keep looking for one. I also love the jar of gratitude. I've been practicing that a little more lately as I should all the time.
ReplyDeleteLove your Fall home, Kathy! And, I "want" that cute white truck (was that a recent find at CVS)? You might be using less, but it packs a punch and look wonderful and welcoming, as always!
ReplyDeleteLove your fall home Kathy. I am scaling down more and more each year and enjoying a less is more look. Love your little white truck. I would love a white one too. Have the red, but I could see the white in summer too filled with shells or mini beach balls etc.
ReplyDeleteLove your mantel and the urns are so pretty.
Have a great week? cm
Everything looks so pretty for fall. I love the pick up truck filled with pumpkins.
ReplyDeleteKathy
Hi Kathy,
ReplyDeleteI keep my seasonal decorating very simple. I guess I'm getting lazy in my old age! Your home looks so pretty with the Fall decor.
hugs
Sissie
Everything looks perfect. The truck and the mums...so cool!
ReplyDeleteI've gone a little lighter, at least spread things among rooms rather than a huge display in the living room and kitchen.
Happy Fall, Kathy! :)

Very pretty, Kathy. The little truck is so cute with the pumpkins. I keep Fall fairly simple. I have a tablescape in our dining room ready but it has been too cloudy to get a decent photo. I read your comment on Kate's Place about your knitting. Keep it up if you can!
ReplyDeleteIt's all beautiful, Kathy. My decor is always simple, and, I haven't done a thing yet. So, you're way ahead of me.
ReplyDeleteLike you I don't give up summer until its actually fall! Don't know why we have to rush the seasons so? I've gone lighter early in Fall and then go a little heavier into later October. Your decorations are so pretty.
ReplyDeleteI love your little truck with the pumpkins.
ReplyDeleteI keep fall simple but love to decorate for Christmas.
Carolyn
Hi Kathy! Everything looks so pretty! I've got to get on the ball and pull out my pumpkins! ;)
ReplyDeleteBe a sweetie,
Shelia :)
This year is definitely going to be all about simple, plus the temps have still been between 102-108, so it's still almost too hot to even think about fall. I love your simple and sweet fall additions! Cute little truck! Blessings, Cindy
ReplyDeleteThe house looks so nice, Kathy. I like the truck with the darling mini pumpkins.

I have that same truck with white pumpkins our on our porch...mine isn't perfect like yours is it's missing its front windshield! I'm just getting back into decorating again since my "leave of absence." I just haven't gotten around to posting any of it yet, but I definitely am cutting down on how much I drag out and display this year. Everything of yours always looks great especially your beautiful urns with the mums.
ReplyDeleteI look forward to keeping up with your post to see what new things you will do. Enjoy your fall!
JP
PS I wanted to send you a personal message, but your email link is not working. I'll have to search for you in my contacts to get in touch.
ReplyDeleteYour home looks beautiful, Kathy! Your do such a wonderful job every year decorating for Fall. Love that little truck! :) xxx Maria
ReplyDeleteLove the truck! We've been having 90 degree weather . . . sold at the flea this past weekend in the heat, YUCK, but today I feel FALL!! Praying for rain here! I'll be getting around to decorating now that the flea is behind me . . . hard to think pumpkins etc when the temps are summer temps!! xo
ReplyDeleteKathy, I am exactly where you are with holiday decorations. I used to have so much out that you really could not appreciate the beauty of any one thing. So, fewer and only the best things are brought out now. And, very little is being added to the 'still too many' decorations that I have.
ReplyDeleteI love your little truck - can't believe you got it at CVS.
Everything looks lovely. Maybe, just maybe the temperatures will not be in the 80's much longer. I'm ready for a chill in the air that comes to stay!
Rhonda
I'm hearing more and more people are longing for fewer decorations, and I can definitely relate. Ironically this year I did a little bit more than usual because of the fall tour, but I would rather have fewer, more impactful items than a bunch of little chochkies.
ReplyDeleteYour white truck is adorable, and I can see how it would be versatile for Christmas too!

Love your fall decor Kathy. I have found myself keeping things more simple as my kids are getting older too. I am loving the cute little truck, what a great find and it looks adorable with those sweet little pumpkins.
