Brookville Designer Showhouse

For those of you not familiar with Brookville, New York, it is located on Long Island and is a wealthy area. You may know it better as the the place where Jennifer Lopez and Marc Antony have a home.

These pictures are from the 2009 Brookville Designer Showhouse and are courtesy of Newsday. There are a total of 59 pictures and an accompanying article; you can click on the link if you would like to check it out. I am highlighting the ones that caught my eye.

  1. Hi, I am a fellow Long Islander-do we even say that?-and have enjoyed going to many of the Gold Coast mansions and Designer showcases. They used to have wonderful holiday craft fairs at many of them (like Hempstead House), so you could do some shopping while enjoying the showcase. Thanks for sharing these beautiful pics!

  5. I think there's a bit of wallpaper overkill in the house. Some of the rooms are a bit OTT for my taste, and some really appeal to me. The last four pics are my favourites.

  6. Beautiful photos. I am especially drawn to the bedroom with the upholstered headboard. Lots of wallpaper, huh? I'm honestly not sure I'm ready for it to be "back". It's such a nightmare to strip!

  8. Hi Nancy ~ Fellow Long Islander! That must be great. They are too far for me {it would be a whole day trip}; my closest would be the Hamptons' but even that's a trek. Deepwells in St. James did one a long time ago, but only the one. That was perfectly located for me.

It is quite the tour, Lisa, and that's not even half of it!

I know we all keep hearing how wallpaper is coming back, Christine, but I thought quite a bit was used throughout this house. I'm wondering if maybe they had to use it {to cover up imperfections or something}.

  9. Hi Rosemary! Thanks for coming over to visit my blog!

I kind of like the room they called "My Favorite Room"! I thought that was comfy looking. The use of wallpaper really stood out to me ~ that it was just in so many rooms.

Unfortunately, Beth, when I see wallpaper I do have flashbacks to what hubby and I went through removing it in our first house. I do like a lot of the rooms pictured, though.

Hi Jane! Yes, wouldn't you like a "guest lounge"?

  11. I would say photos 8 and 11, 13 and 14 are my favorites. A little overkill on the wallpaper for my taste! :-)

  12. Oh my goodness. That house is gorgeous! I can't even imagine how much those rooms cost to decorate. That kitchen is out of this world. Anyway, now that I've ruined my keyboard from all of the drool...

My Hobby Lobby is about 45 minutes away, but that's close enough to hit. Hope one comes your way, soon. It's really a craft store that geared towards people like us. If you come down to PA we'll have to get together! I would love that. Just let me know.

  13. Hi Mishelle ~ It definitely does look nice; the new patterns that are out are gorgeous!

It is a lot of wallpaper, PK. I was not surprised to see it, but to see so much of it.

The size of those rooms alone is something else, Marian! Imagine how much furniture you could store in there! : )

  14. I would live there if someone else would pay the bills and do the cleaning!
