I'm having a lot of fun linking up to all the different blog parties. Not only is it fun, but I'm accomplishing stuff! So, I only hesitated for a moment to commit myself to Melissa's Procrastinator's Party over at The Inspired Room.
Step 1 is sharing before pictures of the project piece(s). Here's mine:
I had gotten 6 of these chairs FREE many years ago. They were painted a flat pinky-peach color with a pink vinyl seat. I love the legs, the generous seat and the flower details on the harp{?} back. {If anyone knows anything about this style chair, I'd love to hear about it}. I painted them white and added the fabric you see here, figuring they would be great additional seating whenever I needed it. I'm down to 5 and I'm only going to redo 4, since the fifth one is in my spare bedroom {white with a different fabric that works in that room}.
At this point in my life the white and this fabric don't fit in with my home or style anymore. I decided I want to paint them brown and use a fabric that coordinates with my bedroom {since that is where 3 of them reside}. I've had the fabric for around 2-3 years {yes, I said years ~ I am a Pro at this Crastinating stuff} and I got the paint with the last Glidden promotion for a free quart of paint.
The hardest step is next ~ step 2 ~ actually working on the project and having it done by October 20th to link up with everybody else's afters.
Wish me luck!
Don't forget to enter our Paintings in Progress Giveway for a beautiful painting by artist, Julie Beck, called "Skeleton Keys". Ends Friday!
What wonderful chairs! I can't wait to see the finished product.
ReplyDeleteI also loved your BOO decor.
Anxious to see them finished ... wonderful.
ReplyDeleteHave a warm snuggly eve. TTFN ~Marydon
Thank you, Laura! It's about time I got these done!
ReplyDeleteI'm a bit anxious myself, Marydon! : ) Enjoying the cool weather here.
The shape of those chairs is beautiful. I haven't seen any like that before. I can't wait to see what you do with it.
ReplyDeleteI was hoping you, or one of my other bloggy friends who deal with furniture a lot, might have seen something like them before. I have never seen another set like them either. Maybe when I take the seat off I'll actually look and see if there is any stamp or name on the underside. What would you do on the flower part, Marian? Any tips for me? It seems like it should stand out a bit from the chocolate brown I plan on painting them.
ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous transformation...
ReplyDeleteOh what a wonderful transformation it would be.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE those chairs! Can't wait to see them re-done. Thanks for stopping by. This is my first time at your blog - now I'm off to read more!
ReplyDeleteShannon
Oh good graces, those chairs are lovely! I have not heard of this procrastination party, but then again I havent heard of a lot of things lately because I havent been blogging! But I was going to do a blog post on procrastination, I think this may be a sign!
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see the final results! The chairs are going to look gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Ann! Fingers crossed!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Shannon. I'm actually kind of looking forward to working on them now!
There you go, Amanda {although it sounds like you're procrastinating a little : )}
I hope so, Christine!
I love chair makeovers!
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to seeing the finished product!
Tamera@doubledelight
Thanks Tamera! I'm looking forward to getting started on it, too!
ReplyDeleteKathy...way to go! I have a list a mile long...so you ahead of me! :-)
ReplyDeleteHi! I'm a fellow procrastinator! I'm excited to see your chair makeover. They have such nice bones I'm sure they'll turn out lovely.
ReplyDeleteWell, Susan, now that I've said it in public I need to get them done! I'm hoping to get the painting started this weekend.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Linda! They are good sturdy chairs and they are different. I'm looking forward to seeing them done myself!
This seems like a great idea for a party- once you tell people that you're doing a project, you have to finish!
ReplyDeleteThat just it, Kasey ~ "you have to finish" or subject yourself to the shame of proclaiming you'll do it and not get it done! I am getting started on my project this weekend and hope to get the majority of it done. Thanks for visiting my blog!
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see it all finished!!
ReplyDeleteAdorable little chairs! Did you see The Nester's post today? Makes me want to go out and scout chairs. You can never have too many - especially if they are shaped just right like the ones you found. :)
