Cradle And All

Upon clearing out the attic so we could go through everything and sort it as “keep”, “donate” or “yard sale”, I came across this little doll cradle I had gotten for my daughter when she was really little.  It was unfinished and at the time I just stained it.  I’m sure I made a little comforter and pillow for it, but I haven’t seen it yet.

To make it more up-to-date for my granddaughter, I sprayed it with some Heirloom White.  I probably should have sanded and primed it first because it soaked up the first coat like it was nothing!  That’s a mark in the “pro” column for chalk paint!

I decided to give it a little more detail so I added these wood embellishments that I got from Michaels.  One to the foot of the cradle and one on each side.

Next step will be to make some little bedding for it.  I’m in the process of looking through all the fabric I have here to see what strikes me as “the perfect fabric” for this project.  I keep going back to this one.

  3. Oh, Kathy! How super adorable!!! It still amazes me sometimes what light colored paint can do for a piece. And adding the wood embellishment is like the icing on the cake. Great job!

  15. It's really very cute, Kathy. And I'm sure once you've made the bedding, it will be even more adorable. How special that it was your daughter's, and now it's to be your granddaughter's.

I've been passing things on to MY granddaughter, over the past year, that were MY daughter's. It's so much fun to keep passing things from one generation to the next!

Thanks for joining the party this week. I love having you link up.
