Sometimes when I update a clock, it remains a clock! I’ve had this mantel clock for years. I bought it about 15 years ago at a flea market in Florida.
It looked okay in the old house because I had an oak mantel, oak bookcases, oak, oak and more oak! I have no oak here {yay!}. So it needed to be changed up.
So I got a new can of Rustoleum Black Satin spray paint, covered the clock face with a plastic bag and got to work.
I’m so glad I painted it! I love it black! I feel like I got a new clock.
I’ll show you the whole mantel soon. Once I figure out whether I want a mirror or a picture hanging here.

Woo hoo!!!! I am so happy to have won the book, Kathy! And I had a great time chatting with you yesterday, as well. Your clock looks brand spankin' new and wonderful, too. :-) Went to the barn sale today and found a few things. Then went off to another shop in the next town and went crazy! I better get to work to earn some money to pay for everything I bought. LOL
ReplyDeleteI have oak, but at only 10 years old it is staying. I don't have the distaste that others have for it. I am not crazy about the dark wood of my grandmother's time.
ReplyDeleteSame thing for brass. If it is good solid brass I would cringe to paint it. When I go on house tours here in Southampton I notice no one has painted their gorgeous brass chandeliers! :). Classics are always in good taste.
