Laundry Room

I don’t think I’ve shown you much of the laundry room in our new condo.  This is the side with no windows so it doesn’t get any natural light.  This is also where the garage entrance door is and it is sandwiched between the back where I have my craft/sewing room, and the way to the kitchen where the pantry and a storage closet are.  Here is one of the best “before” pictures I could find.

It photographs as a brighter yellow than it actually was, but rather than brightening up the space, this yellow wasn’t doing much for this dark area.  We decided to go with the new Ace paint, Clark & Kensington in White Linen.  I had no idea my hubby was going to paint this while I was visiting in New York.  So I came home to a nice surprise!

The picture above is facing toward my craft/sewing room with the pantry closets and kitchen behind me.  The picture below is with my back to the craft/sewing room.

It really brightened it up noticeably!  He had only just finished it up on Memorial Day and then he was off on another business trip.  He asked me to wait until he got back before putting anything back up on the wall, but I would have done anyway as I needed his help with the Ballard café shelves for in here.

He also cut down our laundry cart’s length so that it would fit in between the dryer and the cabinet, which cleaned up the opposing wall so it didn’t look so congested with stuff on it.  He wants to extend the counter {which means a new countertop}.  If he does that, I will probably skirt it so the laundry cart is behind it and then I will just pull it out when I’m doing laundry.

The laundry cart used to sit on this wall next to the water cooler.

I gathered all the décor I had in here, plus the extra fern prints I had from the master bedroom.

I noticed I seem to have a lot of nature décor, which is good because I can tie this all in together.

Here it is now!   I had to bring in extra lighting to get decent pictures in this windowless area {shop lights for Pete’s sake}, so the shadows you see are from those lights.

My wrapping paper holder which has been sitting in here for months, waiting to be hung up.

Ballard café shelves.

Baskets I already had and I just added Michael’s dollar bin frames painted Heirloom White with some printed out labels.

DSC07971_6987

Metal pails from Goodwill {about two years ago}.  I added number tags to them.

I bought a real ivy plant when I was at Lowe’s recently and found the pot on clearance at Michaels.  I felt I needed something that would drape down {eventually} and I have always loved ivy ~ especially the variegated variety.  The frame I received as a special win from Jennifer Rizzo.

My fern prints which had been in our master bedroom {and an extra one I had in the water closet} hang above the laundry cart.  On top of the cabinet I just put the nest plaque and glass container with eggs.  They had been there previously.

A shelf I found at the local antique and flea mart, made over with Heirloom White and a wood embellishment.  It holds the Beatrix Potter figurines that I had given my Mom over the years many years ago and that she gave to me before we moved.

My recently framed print is placed just outside my craft/sewing room.

Such a big difference this new paint color makes!  It looks like a white white in the pictures, but it is actually more of a creamy white ~ very close to the cabinet color.

Definitely liking the lighter feel in this area!
