After looking at carpet, carpet and more carpet, we bought hardwood flooring {insert eye roll} at Lumber Liquidators two weekends ago. We were just going to replace the wall to wall with new carpet, but after seeing a great buy on some wood flooring, that they just happened to have enough of, we decided to go with hardwood flooring in the home office. Just a glimpse of it here, as I don’t have any pictures of the home office.
We are also thinking it would be nice in the sunroom and already have some on order for the dining area {which we decided to do after I was talking with my hands one night at dinner and knocked my glass of red wine on the carpet}. So right now, the bedrooms and the living room will be the only areas with carpet.
The picture above is of the office with all the furniture pulled out, and carpet and padding pulled up. The new wood floor goes really well with the wall color {it was this color when we moved in}. It is by Schon and is Crème Brulee Birch.
This picture is just after completion and some cleaning up of the floor is needed. Below is the after with the furniture moved back in the room. Still moving things around and getting printers and such set back up, but it’s nice to have all this stuff out of my living room.
I love the look of wood floors and prefer it over carpet. We just picked up the dining room flooring and hubby will get started on that, probably this coming week. I will probably use an area rug that I brought with us from our old house under the table and chairs. Meanwhile, I’ve been keeping my drinks, wine or otherwise, out of arms reach!
The floor looks great in the office. I love wood flooring and would have it every where. My hubby likes carpet in the bedroom, so we usually keep it there.
ReplyDeleteVery pretty!!!
ReplyDeleteI love our cherrywood floors but we only have them in our family room/guest bathroom and stairs. Wish I had them in my creative space!!
I thought they would be easy to keep clean . . . not . . . but I still love them!!
Kathy, your hardwood floor is wonderful! I know you'll love it! The color is perfect for this room too. I can see why you chose it! It looks so rich and inviting!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE our old hardwood floors. They are the original ones when the home was built in 1955! They are so easy!!! Even with the dogs, they are easy! You'll love them!
ReplyDeleteWe did put a "pergo" type in the kitchen as that had old vinyl. Sure is great to have handy hubby's!
I'll be mailing your swap package this week! I'm all done! Crossing my fingers that you will like it!
Your office looks great! I could use one!

ReplyDeleteLOVE it- looks awesome.
nice! love hardwoods.
ReplyDeleteI love the wood floor in the office. We are back and forth on what we want to do with the carpet that needs replacing. I think wood floors might be the best choice. Maybe stick with carpet in our bedroom. I am sure it feels great to get a job like that done.
ReplyDeleteKathy! Thumbs up on the wood flooring... it looks so great! If I could, I would have wood everywhere. I know you are going to LOVE it!
ReplyDeleteWow- Does THAT look great! You did a fantastic job. I am going to replace the carpeting in my hubby's office with hardwood- shhhhh...he has NO idea...poor man- xo Diana
ReplyDeleteit looks so rich Kathy.. really made a world of difference in that room..
ReplyDeletelove it.
Well it looks amazing!! And with that name, Creme Brulee, how could it not be?? Love it Kathy!
ReplyDeleteLove those hardwoods....cool to the touch in the summer and great in winter, too. Plus, I just love the look. Right now our dining room has hardwoods and no rug. I have gotten used to the rugless look. Although I think eventually I'd like seagrass for the lightness of it. We have seagrass on the living room hardwoods and love it (well, I do...hubby accepts the seagrass :) Linda
ReplyDeleteHardwood all the way! And it looks fabulous!
ReplyDeleteKelly
Well that will teach you not to talk with your hands and a glass of wine. ;) I love the flooring! I actually can't stand carpet so I vote for wood flooring any day of the week.

Love your new wood floors! You will get alot of enjoyment out of them compared to the carpet. It's amazing how much bigger your rooms will feel with the wood too.
ReplyDeleteWell, I think I'll use that oops!-I-didn't-mean-to-spill-that-wine-on-this-carpet-I-want-to-replace trick soon, Kathy!! LOL Thanks for the tip! Your flooring looks GORGEOUS. We haven't looked at Liquidators; maybe we should. Thanks for stopping by our bday party table! ~Zuni

ReplyDeleteOh I would love to do this in my studio. Your office looks great. I keep the old carpet in because of all my grandkids. They like to play and lay around and watch movies in here when I am working. Love that beautiful floor though!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE wood floors. If I had it my way I'd have no carpet at all in my house. I just love the timeless look and the ease of cleaning vs. carpet.
ReplyDeleteThe office looks so wonderful Kathy. I agree the wood looks great with the color already there. Doesn't it feel good to get a big project like that finished?
Great job, I like it:-) Hugs, Biljana
