So, apparently, I lied. I wasn’t done with the guest bedroom as I told you here. I forgot I wanted to add something to one of the side tables that has two cabinet doors that are recessed.
I decided to go with one of my favorite fabrics and I had enough left over for this project. I cut my fabric just a little bigger than the inserts. I covered the back side of the fabric with Mod Podge and put some on the insert, too.
You can see some of the overlap here.
I came back in once it dried and used an exacto knife and a straight edge to cut off the extra fabric.
Carol from The Polka Dot Closet recently did the backs for bookcases with liquid starch, if you’d like to try that method of attaching fabric.
Okay. Now I’m done!
Looks great. What a super idea. Your room is really so pretty. Hugs, Marty
ReplyDeleteThat is a really cute idea Kathy. I did old book pages on my armoire desk, and I am thinking it needs a revamp soon. Fabric would be a good choice. Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteAdorable. What did you use for the backing?
ReplyDeleteHi Kathy,

That looks great! I am wanting to do something to the back of a bookcase for my daughter's room. This might be a good option!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great and simple idea! Way easier than a stencil and paint!! I'm pinning it now!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing your great ideas!
I love the fabric you added, actually it's the same fabric I bought to use in my dressing room. We have good taste. Welcome to the Midwest! I wanted to stop by and thank you for stopping by my blog and letting me know you thought my garden still looked good even with the drought! Hoping you might consider sharing this at Sunday's Best Sunday evening. Your vignette is very pretty!
ReplyDeleteLove that look!...Waay back in the day, before mod podge, we did use starch to adhere fabric to walls and other surfaces!..I even used a diluted mixture of Elmers Glue!...but then again, the dinosaurs loved glue!
ReplyDeleteLove what you did on the door inserts! Very stylish and unique looking

ReplyDeleteHey, thanks for the shout out!! I love that fabric, it seems I have tons of fabric laying around and it is way neater then the wallpapers I have picked up...Man, you took that from drab to fab too!

What a fantastic idea... lovely guest room..
ReplyDeleteThey look great!
ReplyDeleteLOL, about your hubby and the wood floors! I think an area rug would be very nice in your living room. My home has wood floors and I have rugs to keep the noise down and they do warm up the home in the winter months.
