The wood floor saga continues with the wood flooring now completed into the living room. If you recall, our story left off with the dining room and how it is open to the living room. There was wall to wall carpet throughout much of the condo {except for the bathrooms, kitchen and laundry/garage entrance/craft room}.
While I am fine with no area rug in the dining area, I told my hubby we will need one in the living room. With the high ceilings you get an echo. I put my foot down on that one {and it sounded much more forceful on a wood floor than the previous carpeting}.
I would tell you that this is the end of the flooring posts, but we are not sure if we are going to do wood or carpet in the sunroom. My concern is it might be too cold in the Winter months in the sunroom, what with all those windows.
So we are going to take an area rug I have rolled up at the moment as a “practice” rug, lay it down in the living room and see what that does to the acoustics.
If it works out to cut down on the echoing, we will do wood flooring in the sunroom, too. If not, we will probably go with carpet. I don’t care too much either way, I just want that room to be comfortable since we spend a lot of time in there.
We are both really happy with the look of the wood flooring. My husband said to me, “I would have been just as happy with carpeting”, which causes me to look at him with an I-can’t-believe-you-just-said-that look.
He loves wood floors! When we went for a walk one night in our condo community he kept stopping to look in the windows of the new ones that were still for sale. They all had wood floors. His words, “that looks sharp” and “that looks really good”. He must forget that I’ve known him for almost 30 years ~ “I would have been just as happy with carpeting”. Who does he think he’s kidding?
He also “doesn’t want area rugs all over the place”; like I’ve got a stash in the hall closet waiting to come out! Fingers crossed the area rug in the living room works out well. I’m hitting Home Goods first, since I’ve had luck with them in the past for clients.
My current giveaway runs through August 4th! You can click here to get to that post.

ReplyDeleteKathy - The floors are gorgeous!! I just love the color of the wood.
ReplyDeleteOh I love your floors. I would love to replace the carpet in our house with wood. It looks amazing. Hugs, Marty
ReplyDeleteOh, my, Kathy! I love your beautiful wood floors! Your living room is gorgeous too. I had wood floors just once and loved them so much and really much easier to keep clean than carpet. I know you're loving them.
ReplyDeleteBe a sweetie,
Shelia ;)
Kathy, your wood floors are gorgeous! What a difference- men can be so funny! Your rooms just flow now! Great choice!
ReplyDeleteI hope you find the one you want.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE looking at all the beautiful hardwood floors all over blogland but my oh so tender toosties need their 60 weight pad and super thick Carpet. :)
Love your gorgeous wood floors, Kathy, but I'm with you, area rugs just ground a furniture grouping and add texture and cohesiveness to a space. Plus I like the feel of a rug, but the easy of hardwoods.
ReplyDeleteI love wood floors too. Yours look so great. I know you must be enjoying the change. I say wood floors everywhere get my vote. You can always add an area rug on top (like you're thinking). There can never be too much wood flooring in my book!
ReplyDeleteYour wood floors look incredible - such a fantactic change. I am all about wood floors so I love this!
ReplyDeleteI love the new floors, They look amazing with the white slipcovers. I would go with the area rug.
ReplyDeleteYour wood floors are beautiful. I prefer wood floors to carpet, so I was ecstatic when we found a home with all original wood floors. My husband is the same way about not wanting a lot of area rugs. He's probably right...probably.
ReplyDeleteKathy, Now I know I am married to the wrong husband. Mine doesn't think anything needs to be changed from the moment you move in. I did not know people even made all of these changes until I began visiting your blog. A revelation! Every choice you make is beautiful! Elizabeth
ReplyDeleteYour floors look wonderful. The area rug will definitely help with the acoustics and add more warmth to the room...I have wood floors in my sunroom as it is an extension of my kitchen...Actually with the exception of the bedrooms all of my floors are wood...just love it...My next project will be the master bedroom..instead of replacing carpet, we will replace it with wood...
ReplyDeleteWhatever you decide, it will be beautiful!!
Wow Kathy your floors look amazing!! I love wood floors. In our old house we had wood floors throughout, this house our first floor and upstairs hallway are wood. An area rug would look wonderful in your living room.
ReplyDeleteI love wood floors too Kathy and yours looks great! We replaced our carpet a few years ago with wood floors and I love them. Enjoy
ReplyDeletewell your living room looks great and get an area rug!lol. Hubs are funny . They have that ego that makes them say how they feel about decorating. But really. Is he going to roll up the area rug and take it back? I highly doubt it. it will sit there just where you put it ( when u get one). :) There is some good ones on Overstock by the way. Good prices too.
ReplyDeleteI vote for wood everywhere..I put it in my bedroom several years ago and I just love it..Easy to clean under furniture that probably never got cleaned under before..Not easily anyway..Area rugs are always an option..Your floors are beautiful..
ReplyDeleteJust gorgeous! Area rugs are great for acoustics and you still will have fantastic wood floors beneath. What a beautiful space.
ReplyDeleteOy! Boys can be so wishy-washy, right?
ReplyDeleteI have been down in SC house hunting over the last week and every new house had wood floors except for the family rooms. They all had berber carpets in them.
I am LOVING your new floors!
