On my way to my daughter’s house on Saturday, I saw this in front of a neighbor’s ~ out for the trash. The pictures are kind of weird because it is laying on a dolly.
I have such great luck finding pieces with no drawers!
I loaded it up and brought it home, much to my hubby’s chagrin, with plans to fix it up and give my daughter first dibs on it or sell it. I have no room for it here, but I really couldn’t just pass it by.
It looks like they might have been starting to refinish it because one side is natural looking and the other side is this lovely purple. The fronts of the drawer section pieces are a lot nicer than the one I found, made over, and kept about a year ago. I won’t have to add decorative trim molding this time.
I’ll be removing the drawer glides and will make these shelves with baskets.
Here was the last drawer-less wonder I found, in case you are new here or just don’t recall.
Here is what it looked like after its makeover {in our new home}. You can read about it here.
I need to work on this fast to get it out of here before I have to hear anymore about the “crap” I bring home! Why can’t I find these things when he’s out of town?
Maravilloso y encantador trabajo.
ReplyDeletebesos.....
I see Fabulous~! you are so talented Kathy.
ReplyDeleteKathy this turned out awesome! I've heard that if you're driving by a great find that you should take a drawer or a cushion with you until you can come back and get the piece, that way nobody wants a dresser with a drawer missing... I guess you proved that wrong! Great re-do... and I'm hearing the same story from my husband about bringing junk home!
ReplyDeleteHave a great day

Kathy, the transformation you did on the dresser that lives in your home is fabulous! I can't wait to see what you do with the beauty-to-be you picked up off the street!
ReplyDeleteOMGoodness Kathy what a GREAT roadside rescue! I would have snatched that dresser up to. I loved what you did with the other and I can't wait to see this one!! Enjoy your day, Gail
ReplyDeleteI didn't know my husband traveled. Surely you, too, are married to him....or his twin that I have never met.
ReplyDeleteI think your little piece is a great find. Can't wait to see her made over. You ARE going with purple right---now that someone has started the process!?;>) xo Diana
That was great luck finding that beauty. I love the way the previous one turned out.
ReplyDeleteWhat a piece of trash!...to someone else :)
ReplyDeleteI know it will be great when you redo it. The last one turned out so pretty and functional, this one will too!
I love that you rescued this piece. And I may have the same doubting husband, too, although he usually comes around.... Yours will too when he sees you work your magic again! Have fun. Can't wait to see what you do.
ReplyDeleteLove it, you are a lucky girl to find these roadside things! Mary
ReplyDeleteI would have rescued it too! I love seeing your dresser with the baskets. It's how I found your blog (through Pinterest). Have a great day! ~ Jamie
ReplyDeleteI think my husband would have the same reaction, but seeing your first piece, I know you will turn it into something special!
ReplyDeleteXO,
Jane
My husband is the same. He always tells me we didn't need to spend the money on it or where in the world will we put that. Esp. the ladder I brought home, hah.
ReplyDeleteThat's great that we are partners. I hadn't heard. We will talk at Sue's.
I seriously can't believe you lucked out finding that on the side of the road. Makes me want to just start driving around just to see what I can find!!! Can't wait to see what you do to your roadkill!!!
ReplyDeleteYou're too funny..I think my husband would not have tolerated "trash picking" either...I would love one of those...You really make them look great..Have fun with your new find.
ReplyDeletei have ear plugs for my hubby
ReplyDeleteKathy...you are a bargain magnet...you find the greatest things and to think that it was free!!...It was waiting for you to rescue it!!

ReplyDeleteYour curb find is a real cutie now!
ReplyDeleteWow, that is amazing, and you did a fabulous job! Can't believe your found it! My kind of find!! :)
ReplyDeleteDespite what hubby says, you have the best luck! I would love to find such a piece! :)
ReplyDeleteSometimes husbands just can't see the beauty in a discarded piece of furniture! I know that you are going to make it look beautiful! I love a good road side find!
ReplyDeleteYou are so funny! I can just see you when you saw the piece on the side of the road.
ReplyDeleteI do remember how pretty you fixed your other one and I know this will turn out gorgeous as well.
So could use you around the north forty for a week or two. lol
Love ya
Maggie
Kathy, you amaze me! This was in the trash?! It has great lines and I can only imagine what you have in store for it! You inspired me to do a piece like this with your first "drawerless" piece! I can't wait to see it finished! Great rescue!
ReplyDeleteWell, it's nice to know I am not the only one who catches flack for all the crap I bring home. At least you sell your items so you have a way of creating and then letting go. I would have risked being in hot water too for that beauty. So glad you rescued it.
ReplyDeleteHi Kathy, I love the things you find. I am sure it will be beautiful.(sounds like we are married to the same guy) The crap we bring home and all.
ReplyDeleteMen just don't understand the delicate balance between junk and absolute Wow.....we have to just overlook them sometimes. Love the remake.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fabulous find and now that I've seen what you did with one, I want to find one too. Just beautiful!
ReplyDeleteLol! Don't all of our husbands want us to get rid of our "crap." It's okay when it's their crap though. Another great find! I'm sure N will grab this up. =)
ReplyDeleteJeanine

ReplyDeleteI love these drawer-less pieces! You have a great eye and the baskets just set them apart! Can't wait to see what you do with the latest one!
