This is the second time I went to the local Goodwill on a Monday and found a bunch of great stuff. So, I think Mondays it is! This trip I found some really pretty things. The first thing I saw as soon as I walked in was this dinner plate.
Johnson Brothers Old Britain Castles collection. I did look for more over by the dishes and Christmas stuff but didn’t see any more. I think this will make a nice backdrop on a plate stand at Christmas. I couldn’t get this in my cart fast enough!
While in the dish area, I did find this very pretty blue and white bowl. Its got a lovely image of a cottage on it {sorry, the price tag is blocking it}. This one says English Village by Salem China Company, Olde Staffordshire. Which, I am sorry to say, means nothing to me.
I made my way along to the wood décor section and found this great tote.
It will be getting a makeover, but I do admire the roses that someone handpainted on it.
This piece will probably wind up in my Etsy once it is done up. One shelf over, I found this mail/desk organizer.
Very pretty in pink the way it is, but it’s marked up so I will also be painting this. I love the detail on it.
I think I may have this be the piece I bring to the Annie Sloan workshop I’m going to be attending soon. I wanted something with some detail on it so I could learn different techniques to bring them out.
Finally, the piece de resistance, this fabulous tureen! This set is quite big. No markings on the bottom except for “Calif. U.S.A. 716”.
In excellent condition, with the ceramic ladle and large underdish. I actually hesitated at $15.99, but knew I would hate myself if I went home without it.
I think this will be my start at adding some tureens to the top of my kitchen cabinets on one side.
All in all, a very satisfying trip to Goodwill; costing me about $30.00.
All beautiful - great shopping expedition!
ReplyDeleteYou really did luck in on Monday!
ReplyDeleteLove the first plate.
Carolyn
That organizer is going to make a good project for the workshop. I'm looking forward to seeing it get a little make-over. Does 11 am work for you on the 18th? Debby can be here by then. We can play a little, have lunch, then play again! Are you still contemplating that chicken salad from DLM? Debby wants to bring a fresh fruit. I will fill out with desserts (my fav) or anything else you girls may like. Sorry I've been such a recluse lately- we moved Dan out into his own little house last week and I've been trying to help him clean the place, get drapes hung, and get done all that other stuff that needed attention. A mother's work is apparently never done! LOL Give me a shout! hugs, Sue

Awesome treasures. Makes me want to get up from this computer RIGHT NOW and head out to the thrift store. Oh, wait - I'm installing a floor!

I go on Monday's too. Love the plates. I go to our GW for many reason. Ours is an upscale GW and has a cafe so I have a homemade cupcake and coffee whilst I read books from the bookstore then I go back into the housewares section. My daughter says it is our own thrifting theme park.
ReplyDeleteNice finds, Kathy. Love the details in that tureen.
