Some Architectural Interest

2012 09 27_8716

If you remember, I found this piece that looked like it came from some piece of bedroom furniture at the local antique mart.

I loved the size, shape and that embellishment piece in the middle.  To get started I painted it French Linen chalk paint.  These pictures make it look pretty light, but in person it is not such a light grey.

I wanted to highlight some of the details so I dry brushed on some Old White.  The grey below is truer in these pictures.

Then I did clear and dark waxes.

I’m really so pleased with the way it turned out.  I wish I had some place to put it here in my home!

I think this would look great over a bed, over a doorway, capping off a gallery wall, on a vent hood {over your oven}; so many different places you could use something like this.

Question ~ should I add D rings to the back for hanging or just leave it as it is {with nothing}?

I’m going to price this at $30.00 for the Holiday Market.

  1. I always use D rings, then if they don't want to use the rings, they can lean it against something. I think it's beautiful, Cathy. I love pretty things over the bed and over doorways too.

  3. Hi Kathy! What a beautiful piece! I think the D rings would be a great idea..some people don't want to do anything more when they buy something. It won't last~~~so many options for it! from one sweetie to another~~~Roxie

  10. Love it, Kathy! Super GREAT transformation and your price is fabulous, too!

The tags I used for my Blessings Banner were Halloween tags with bones and BOO on them. They were black and tooo spooky for me. They were $4.99 for the nine tags and they were strung together on cheap black cord. Still...great find for the $.

Thank you for visiting today...you inspire MOI!

  12. I love the paint treatment! Definitely put the d-rings on it. I ordered a big pkg on Amazon, about a tenth the price of local stores.

  20. Kathy, I love that piece! My thoughts, I think 30 is a fair price, but whenever I am going to price something at 30, I price it at 28 or 29, I think psychologically people think it is a better deal, the same with $40, I price at $38- $39. I would put hangers on it, people are not good at visualizing a pieces purpose...You are going to have one fabulous sale, everything you have prepared is gorgeous!

  22. It was beautiful to start with, you made it fabulous! I would go ahead and put the rings on, then the buyer can hang it immediately. Hard to believe, but there are people out there who would think it was too much work for them to do it themselves!
