California Here I Come!

San Diego to be exact! My first trip ever to California. We’ll be there for five days and I’ve got a couple of bloggy friends helping out with guest posts {plus a few of my own will pop up} while I’m gone.

Since this trip is related to my husband’s work, we will be doing some scheduled things, but I hope to be able to get out on my own and check out some shopping in the area.  I tried to do a little research beforehand on what is in the area near the hotel.  I’ve got my camera packed and hope to get some pictures to share with you.  I’ve read that San Diego has THE nicest weather anywhere in the U.S.

While I’m not thrilled about the plane ride, I am very excited to be going.  See you when I get back!

  1. So excited for you, Kathy. San Diego is a wonderful place. The mission is not much to see, however if you've never been to a mission, you might want to check it out. Old town is very touristy, I wouldn't plan to spend a day there. My advice would be to take a train to San Juan Capistrano-very nice town and beautiful mission. Be sure to bring sunglasses as well as a jacket--California is notorious for chilliness. Laguna Beach is a wonderful artsy community and Newport Beach/Corona del Mar has luxury shopping. Enjoy!

  2. Have a good time and a safe trip! I don't get to travel as often as I would like these days, but that's the tradeoff you accept when you have four dogs. (Yes, I know what you are thinking. My family really is crazy!) My Dad used to travel to California for his job, so one summer when I was around 13, we went to several cities. I remember it being really pretty there and fun, so I hope you enjoy your trip as much as I did.

  3. So excited for you, Kathy. My advice: don't spend a lot of time in Old Town--very touristy--and the mission is rather blah. Take the train to San Juan Capistrano-the mission there is beautiful and the town is quaint. If you like high-end shopping, check out Newport Beach. Laguna Beach is an artist colony for the most part. Be sure to wear sunglasses, sunscreen, and bring a jacket--California gets chilly. Hope you have a wonderful trip!

  8. You are going to love it, Kathy! My sons lived there for a few years and we visited. The weather is gorgeous and everything is blooming this time of year. I loved shopping in La Jolla, about a half hour away. Take lots of pictures, lucky girl!
