In keeping with the series I seem to have going recently, this wood tote was also something I had brought to the booth that has been sitting there. I bought this at a garage sale and, with these wood totes being so popular on blogs, I thought it would go quickly. I bought it exactly as you see it below.
This one is pretty big ~ it is 30 inches long by 13 inches high. I brought it to my booth just like this figuring someone might want to add their own touch to it, whether with a stencil, some hand painting, or some vinyl wording. And that’s what I’m going to do to give it a little more attention.
I decided to go with a Paris and crown stencil I already had. Just a quick and simple update. I have a feeling this might not sell and might be coming home with me, so I went with something that I like.
This tote would be great on a long rectangular dining or kitchen table, especially one with some farmhouse flair. It would look wonderful holding some hydrangeas, a row of candles in mason jars, or some green plants.
For pictures {and to figure out how I might use it} I put it on my living room coffee table with some faux hydrangeas.
I only had three bunches of the faux hydrangeas on hand, so one end is looking a bit bare.
I’ll give it a coat of clear wax just to buff it up a bit. I’m going to price it at $30.00. What do you think? Would it be such a bad thing if it winds up coming home with me?

I would have my fingers crossed in hopes that it wouldn't sell....LOL...I do that a lot! It looks beautiful sitting in your living room just the way it is. Enjoy your day, Gail
ReplyDeleteI think that is a fabulous price!!!...you really dressed the tote up so beautifully and I can't see it hanging int the booth too long!!!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful Kathy, I agree, it looks like it was made for that very spot, looks gorgeous! Happy Spring, Liz
ReplyDeleteIt looks great and if it doesn't sell, it would look wonderful in your home!
ReplyDeleteIt's beautiful, Kathy. I'd have a hard time to part with it and it looks great in your living room.
ReplyDeleteI love it. I also stack dishes in mine. Great redo. Hugs, Marty

It's super cute! I liked it plain too! I like how you styled it half full. xoxo
ReplyDeleteKathy,
ReplyDeleteI think you should keep that one. It looks perfect on your coffee table. Love this.

PS: I am going to do a post on my sweet little surprise I got in the mail from you and Susan towards the end of the week. Thank you ahead of time I love it.
I have a feeling it'll have a nice, loving home in your home, Kathy.:) It's very pretty, and as you say, very verstatile! I hope it finds its happy home. :) ~Zuni
ReplyDeleteHope you keep it, it's perfect on that great coffeetable!
ReplyDeleteHi Kathy, great idea for your tote. I bet it sells fast, but if not, you have a wonderful piece for your coffee table.
ReplyDeleteHave a great week.
Hugs
I think it looks great right where it is Kathy..Nice addition to your living room.
ReplyDeleteI Love this Tote Kathy, and sometimes filling only half is Ok too. It's such a versatile piece. One rule of thumb I have always had when I started doing Antique store Booth Sales is that I always bought something and re~purposed it to my liking in the event it never sold and had to go home with me. Now this is a different approach then when I bought from the Atlanta or LA Markets for my B&M's. As those items I could always sell to a consolidator if I had to close.

Kathy, this is so cute! You transformed it into a great accent piece! It would have to stay home and never make it to the booth! Love it!
ReplyDeleteI think it looks great in your house. Isn't it funny how you think something will sell and it just sits there? That never ceases to amaze me..and then there is something you think will sit there forever and someone snaps it right up. Crazy- xo Diana
ReplyDeleteGorgeous! Love it! Miss you over on Kammy's Korner. Your stuff is so awesome, Kathy!
ReplyDeleteSo pretty! It looks perfect on your table!
ReplyDeleteIt looks great, Kathy. I love the stencil. There have been many things that I fluff up to go with my own home so that if they don't sell, I don't mind keeping them for myself. Then I price them a bit higher. :)
ReplyDeleteI think it should stay right where it is; it's such a perfect fit on your table and looks so pretty.
ReplyDeleteIt's gorgeous! I do love it on your coffee table.
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh, when I saw it sitting on your coffee table I thought to myself, it belongs right there! So perfect! I really liked it in it's original state, but I love it now that you prettied it up! I would have a hard time selling that beauty! xokathleen
ReplyDeleteKathy what a fantastic job, I love it!!!
ReplyDeleteCynthia
I guess darker colored things don't sell well in your booth? Anyway, it looks perfect in your living room. So pretty with the white hydrangeas!
ReplyDeleteOh my! You are up to soooo many amazing creations, swooon! And, your decor is so beautiful <3
ReplyDeleteHi Kathy! I love your tote - it's so big and I love your Paris and crown you've added to it. It looks lovely on your coffee table. To tell you the truth, I like just one end with the hydrangeas! Thanks so much for popping in to see me.
ReplyDeletebe a sweetie,
Shelia;)
Hi, Kathy! I like the simplicity of this little makeover. And I even like the small bunch of hydrangeas instead of a full box. :) Very cute!
ReplyDeleteI was thinking the same thing you said at the end of your post - that maybe you should keep it after all! It looks perfect in your room. :)
ReplyDeleteWow, from drab to fab. I bet it sells now. Love your Paris theme. $30 is a great price for a large tote like that.
ReplyDeleteI love it! I have one sitting in my garage waiting for a makeover!
