Button, Button, Who’s Got The Button?

I saw some button wall décor at Hobby Lobby the last time I was there.  So cute for a sewing or craft room.  I didn’t buy the Hobby Lobby ones because they had limited colors, one size, and I thought the price was a little high. I happened to see some unfinished wood buttons on a website for a different company I was browsing shortly after that and ordered a few for my craft/sewing room.

The great thing about this site is that they offer their unfinished wood pieces in a nice selection of sizes and their prices are really reasonable.  I ordered two smaller sizes for one particular spot and a larger size for another spot a little higher up on the same wall.  I painted them in some colors that will go with what I have going on in the room~ Coco chalk paint, Old Ochre chalk paint, and Peony Pink craft paint.

Once they were painted and dry, I applied clear and dark wax to all of them.

I hung them on the wall by simply hot gluing a large paper clip to the back of each and nailing a small nail in the wall to hang it from.  The paper clip hanger is an old trick that Diane from In My Own Style shared some time ago for hanging plates, which I have also done, and it holds up great.   I layered the two smaller buttons for a dimensional look.

An inexpensive way to make some cute wall décor that works with your own craft or sewing room and painted in colors that work with your space.  Shadows from the wire rack shelf above this larger button made it difficult to get a good picture.

A nice little addition to my craft/sewing room and just in time for the upcoming Where Bloggers Create linky party on July 12, 2014, at My Desert Cottage!

  10. I love buttons but never thought of using them in such a creative way Kathy! I think I may have the perfect spot for some of these in my sewing/craft space so I may just steal this idea.

I notice we have a couple of things in common...I'm married 30 years and up until two months ago lived in NY all my life.

Thank you for stopping by and leaving such a sweet comment today about the bouquet. I'm going to have a look around your blog now :).

  13. What a cutie-pie idea! My mother actually taught me how to play the old game of, "Button, button, who's got the button."
I can understand that before TV or computers it was a load of fun.
