When I put my Christmas decorations away, I always think it is a good time to change up some of the vignettes I have out for every day. Usually, I find something I like and that’s what I stick with. With Valentine’s Day coming up (and without much Valentine’s Day décor to speak of) I tried to put together some vignettes with stuff I already had around the house. This also tied in with one of my five goals for 2015 ~ using what I’ve got!
I used some small red fairy tale books I had gotten at a yard sale last year. I put two under a cloche on my coffee table, with a LOVE bingo card, a couple of game pieces and a Scrabble tray with “love” spelled out. One of the game pieces had a “30” on it, which I put next to the Scrabble letters since we will be married 30 years in May.
On the mantel, I brought my girl and boy busts back out and put them on my candlesticks to raise them up. I also added in two more of those red fairy tale books in here, as well as two other red books I had elsewhere in the house.
Our buffet in the dining area got a few things.
And, I brought out my Valentine’s Day hearts pillow for the living room sofa.
This will tide me over until the middle of February, when I’ll change the mantle and coffee table vignettes to something that will bring me into Spring. How have you been decorating recently?
Hi Kathy,
ReplyDeleteI love your Valentine touches. The cloche with the bingo card is adorable!
Yes, I am wanting to change some things up around here and I'm trying not to spend more money! Sure hope I can do it.

No decorating here but I sure am enjoying yours. :)
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love the white couch with the gallery wall above it. Your new vignettes are perfect for this time of year too. I need to work on mine and like you, use what I have.
Love your sweet Valentine touches, Kathy! I especially love the cloche display with the scrabble tiles and the "30", such a special detail. You have motivated me to do some Valentines decorating too. Stay warm!
ReplyDeleteVery pretty! I have kept things fresh & simple since Christmas... still thinking about what to bring out for Valentine's.
ReplyDeleteHave a happy one, Kathy!
xoxo,
Lin
I love your winter/Valentine Day decorations. They can carry you all through the month. The pop of red is fresh and lovely. Happy Thursday to you- xo Diana
ReplyDeleteOh I love the touches of Valentines, and your new vignettes are so pretty.

Very nice vignettes, Kathy. I love the LOVE bingo card! And congratulations on your upcoming 30th anniversary! ~Zuni
ReplyDeleteHi Kathy, love all your wonderful displays for winter and Valentine's. Your pop of red just brightens the winter days. Thank you for the inspiration. I have to get busy!!

Looks so pretty and very nice vignettes. I'm pea green with envy with your scrabble pieces, every time I thrift I love for scrabble and never find any! I love everything inside the cloche. I so have to get going, it takes me a long time to get over the "holidays". I agree <1000 feet would be hard to live in, heck I'm at almost 1200 and having a hard time with no storage!
ReplyDeleteHi Kathy, love your Valentine cloche! I've been away from the blogging world for so long so it was fun for me to catch up with your blog today and see what you've been up to. I have to ask...did you paint those two black and white checked pieces? I just love them!
ReplyDeleteKathy, your winter and V'tine touches are all so pretty. I'm so sorry that I didn't credit you with the little V'tine bag on my blog. I tried so hard to remember where I had purchased that. I've gone back and credited your Etsy now. I'm enjoying the little bag. laurie
ReplyDeleteI love all your Valentine touches, Kathy, especially the cloche. You & Betsy always come up with some great ideas for them. I can never seem to do more than stick a plant in there. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm really bad about Valentine's Day, I do not decorate. You have done a fabulous job. I like your style (understated). I'm just not into the sometimes tacky/gaudy V-Day decorations/décor some people use. Love the red books, great idea!

Just the right touches of love and red and hearts. I shall be setting out some hearts to share the love I feel. Creative Valentine Bliss...
ReplyDeleteI haven't been decorating yet, but I have been planning a schedule for when to change the décor. I'm going to be ahead of schedule this year.
ReplyDeleteYour touches of red are beautiful. Red is a great color that I love to see from Christmas through Valentine's Day and then like you, I like to see the arrival of spring.
ReplyDeleteI love your subtle but sophisticated style Kathy. The crystals, the touches of red, the cloche, all lovely and just enough of a good thing.
ReplyDeleteI have never really decorated for Valentine's Day, and since I'm not home this winter this year will be no exception, but I'm enjoying seeing what everyone else is doing.
Sweet. I don't decorate for Valentine's day. I still have my "Christmas" mantel up although everything else is put away.
ReplyDeleteSeems a lot of us are trying to use what we have and trying to spend less $$$$!!

I love the pops of red...you know me! Your heart applique pillow is so sweet....I love it!

What a great use of what you have. I love all the letters.
ReplyDeleteKathy, your Valentine's Day vignettes are so pretty! I love the pops of red with your beautiful black and white decor. The red cloche is so cute: the "love" Bingo card is great! It looks like your ready and I love your goal of using whet you have! I'm not doing much because I have been in the hospital with Pneumonia. I'm taking it easy.
ReplyDeleteit all looks very pretty, kathy:) love the cloche with the cute red books!
ReplyDeleteKathy,
ReplyDeleteI like what you have done for a Winter/Valentine look in your home and I hope that you will share it at my party on Monday.
