Pinterest Inspired Manicure

I started a new board on Pinterest not too long ago ~ Nail Polish, which is not just for the actual nail polish brand, color or shaping of the nails, but also for the different nail art.  I mostly thought I’d find a good manicurist (meaning someone who is artistic and could pull these off), but I usually do my own nails for budget and time reasons.  Here are some of my favorites.

Can you see the theme here?  While out at CVS, I veered from my list and bought two of the Sally Hansen nail polishes, and thought I’d try my hand at this look.  Something simple that my shaky hands could handle.

Here are the nail polishes I used.  Sally Hansen Complete Salon in Shell We Dance (210) and Sally Hansen Hard As Nails Xtreme Wear in Celeb City (220).

What do you think?  Not as daring or dramatic as the ones I’ve pinned but I figure I will work my way up to that.  My hands are a bit rough still from the Winter we’ve had and dealing with lots of paper at work these past couple of weeks, but I’m really liking the look.

Not a bad picture as taken by a 4 1/2 year old.  Who, by the way, as my little clone, wanted the same thing.  Except she wanted her pink to not be as sheer looking.

Have you tried anything like this recently?  Do you do your own nails or do you have them done?  I used to have them done about ten years ago and was also getting them silk wrapped at that time.  I stopped to save money and to see if I could get my own nails back to their old healthy shape.  They are better than they were before I decided to silk wrap, but they are nowhere near what they were like, say, 20 years ago.  Ahhh, aging!

  1. So adorable: you and E's matching nails. I really love the leopard print ones too but I am the world's worst DIY manicurist and I'm too cheap to go pro. Sigh! But I have been doing some Essie colors outside of my usual comfort zone.

  3. Oh- so pretty- you did a nice job on yours. I go back and forth but my own nails are just awful so if I want them to look good I go to one of those cheapo mall places. lol xo Diana

  4. What a cute idea! I love browsing Pinterest for nail ideas too. I love the black and gold polish. I do my own now. I have to give one of these a try! I love that you and your Granddaughter match!

  5. So fun! I haven't put polish on my nails since I stopped working in an office. Like you wrote, they're no where near what they looked like 20 years ago! :)

  6. I rarely color my nails, my nails are brittle and break easily. So I only use a hard as nails type polish. I wish I had long nails so I could polish up mine. I don't think I'd paint mine a simmering color but do like it on both of yours. PS...i do like the darker pink too.

  7. Very snazzy!

I used to get weekly manicures, but now that I'm in the boonies I don't get them nearly as often. I've always been fortunate to have good, strong nails that rarely break. I wish the rest of me was in such good shape! lol
