I finally picked up a lumbar pillow form to make a pillow for the master bedroom with that beautiful toile fabric I used for my lampshade makeover {which you can read about here}. As pretty as the fabric is, I felt like I needed to add something to it, and I decided to add a small ruffle. I chose this blue linen.
I really like the way it turned out!
I like it so much that I made another using a 10 inch pillow form and have put it in my Etsy shop! This pillow also has the blue linen ruffle.
With the little bit of linen I have left {I only ordered a yard} I intend to make two tea towels. With ruffles, of course! That is if my sewing machine bobbin stops throwing up thread. I’m hoping to do a bunch of tea towels in the coming weeks. Meanwhile I moved onto some tote bags using some new graphics I got.
The small ones are great for a quick errand run or when you don’t need to bring a loaded up handbag with you. They have a zipper top and each one will be different and unique.
The others are larger with an open top and would be useful for carrying some of your smaller purchases or on your visits to the flea or antique market. Each of these will also be embellished differently so you will be getting a one of a kind tote!
In recognition of Women’s Heart Health month, all my sweet hearts are discounted for the month of February.

Adorable pillows. I have such a hard time with ruffles. Any tips on how to ruffle easily? I've used my ruffler - disaster, thread pulling the fabric - disaster and even pinning by hand. I know I should keep trying so what's your secret?
ReplyDeleteI love all of your fabric choices, and the blue ruffle addition is really stunning. I love ruffles. I hadn't thought about it until reading this, but most of my pillows are currently piped and not ruffled. I need to remedy that.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pillows Kathy.. love the ruffle.
ReplyDeleteMarla had a great idea about a tutorial too..

You've been busy in your craft room, Kathy! Love all of your totes! Did you use transfers and your new tool? Your toile pillow for your master turned out really nice. Blue has always been a favorite color, but I haven't used it much in this house. :-) Sue

You can do a zipper! I can't do that or a button hole. So you won't be seeing that at my place. You're so talented.

That is such pretty Fabric. Makes for a great pillow.
ReplyDeleteHi Kathy,
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting my post on my foyer. The toile fabric you used for the pillows is the same fabric I used in my master bedroom re-do but in a different color. I love the vintage look of the print. I haven't posted yet cause now we started a master bathroom re-do and the bedroom is a mess!
Look at you!! You are super-talented Kathy. I absolutely love that fabric on the pillow. I'm off to go check out your Etsty.
