I’ve participated in the Where Bloggers Create party for the past two years and now that we’ve moved, I’ve got a whole new space to show you! Our move allowed me to move from a garage space to a little room in our condo that was meant for storage. You can see my 2010 post here and my 2011 post here.
Come on in and let me show you around! The framed print above is a fairly new addition and I decided to put it right outside my door so you know you are entering a creative space. I actually consider this area part of my space because I pack up my Etsy orders here.
The drawer holds ribbons and the cabinet holds tissue and packing materials.
It is very convenient being right outside my craft room. My craft/sewing room is at the end of our condo that encompasses a long hallway where the entrance to the garage and the laundry room is.
I used this screen {to the left} that I had in our living room at the old house to hide the mechanicals that share this room with me.
It has actually come in quite handy, not only for that purpose, but it holds a lot of the things I make and sell in my Etsy.
All my tags are clipped on with clothespins and my small totes are just draped over the corners.
Next to the screen is a small table we also had in our old house that was used as a little writing desk. It works here to store some items as well as provide a surface {albeit small} for some projects.
I do still need to organize this tiered basket that holds multiple ribbons, seam binding, stamped muslin and a few other doodads. Sometimes I just like to see ruffles and trims hanging over the side though.
I left all the wire shelving that was original to the storage room and it has definitely come in handy. I put some clear plastic storage drawers here ~ each drawer labeled with the colorway of the scrapbook papers or embellishments they hold.
Baskets come in handy for holding lots of things. You’ll see a variety of sizes and types in here holding supplies and/or Etsy stuff.
Bookcases I recently got from Target were a good buy for the price and the size that I needed for fitting under the existing shelving. One side holds some of my larger supplies and pending projects; the other holds my Etsy items.
The tops of the bookcases also came in handy to store things.
The shelves above hold a wide assortment of supplies from my hot glue sticks, buttons, game pieces, favorite CD’s {I love to have music on while I’m creating},
assorted die cut outs {photo boxes}, things that may get made over,
sewing notions {the wooden box ~ with each drawer labeled as to what it holds}, craft paints and glues, fabric and trims, and much more.
These shelves are also handy in that you can hang things from them and I had enough room to hang up my tea towels and larger totes here.
The next section is where my sewing machine lives. It is on another table that we brought with us when we moved and I gave it a brown and white toile skirt.
I attached a yard stick I got for $1.00 at an antique mart to the front with velcro, so it removes easily when I need it to, but is set so that I can measure things right here.
Underneath the table I usually keep batting and fiberfil so it is out of the way. The fabric skirt helps hide that and keep it neat looking. I chose the toile because I love toile and I liked the way it went with my clearance slipcover from Ballard Designs.
This was an old desk chair that got repurposed and there is a bed pillow duct taped to the back to give it some support.
I added a vinyl ~ Sew Much Fabric Sew Little Time ~ to this area and the bling above it was necessary because I had something else hanging there originally, and I couldn’t leave the nail hole.
I hot glued this blingy button to the nail and stuck it back in the wall!
I have my French Memo board that I made here, as well as the lamp with the transformed shade that I did here on this table. My 25 year old Singer died a couple of months ago and has been replaced with a new Brother sewing and embroidery machine.
Scissors close at hand on one side {with a pincushion from my friend Marsha}, and on the other a Keep Calm mug holding markers, pens and pencils.
The shelf above I try to keep some things that I have received from bloggy friends, but there are supplies here, too. The round Christmas tin holds a bunch of wood craft sticks, the toile box {from my friend Marsha} holds greeting cards to be repurposed or anything that was too tall for the photo boxes.
Behind the door, I’ve added a little peg hook piece that I found at a thrift store and I’m using it to hold my Etsy aprons {the child size one is my granddaughters}.
A new addition is this wire dress form I picked up at Hobby Lobby recently. I thought it would be perfect to model the child size aprons I embellish. This pink one is next up on the list. Love that hot pink!
I won this clock in a blog giveaway and it sits over the door.
While I still wind up cutting my fabric on the floor in the living room, or doing projects that utilize multiple supplies at our dining table, being able to have this room dedicated to my sewing and crafts is a dream come true! Thank you so much for visiting me!

Hello lovely, Kathy. How wonderful to have you visit the shop. I am tickled to hear that you enjoyed Love's dressing room tour. ;) I see we have similar color schemes. Black and white has long been my favorite combination, followed by red and aqua...talk about extremes, huh. :)
ReplyDeleteLOVE your screen idea and your chair cover. So much inspiration here. I am a huge fan of black and white diagonal checker pattern. Actually, The Shop Around the Corner typically uses it for a background, but I've changed it these days for several blog parties.
I look forward to visiting your page. Following and added you to my sidebar.
MUAH!
