Being a part of the Etsy community, not only as a seller but as a customer, I have come across many talented individuals. With this series, I hope to introduce you to some of these creative people, finding out where they find their inspiration, and a little bit more about them.
My first guest feature to start off 2015 is Rose of Pozey Pincushions Plus. I think you can guess one of the items she makes! I love how she uses vintage pieces and incorporates them into her pincushions.
Hello, first of all I want to thank Kathy for reaching out to me and highlighting my etsy shop on her blog! I'm very flattered, indeed.
I'm an empty nester mother of two incredible young adults. Olivia, my eldest is a H.S. teacher in Dallas, TX and Aaron recently moved to Sweden with his girlfriend, who grew up there. They are busy building a new life there and enjoying her extended family.
I've been married to my H.S. sweetheart, Keith for 33 years.
After being married 6 years & having our daughter my hubby was commissioned into the Army and we were transferred to Germany where my son was born. We left the Army and spent 14 years in Houston, TX before moving to Columbus, OH 3 years ago.
This is our 14th move in 33 years of marriage!
I've always been artist & creative. As long as I can remember I've always been drawn to making things from what I had...doll clothes & furniture, prom dresses, curtains, home decor etc.
About 5 years ago I made a little pincushion from a vintage "widowed" salt shaker and fabric scraps. It was a gift for my best friends elderly mom who was a quilter. My friend then wanted one and another friend wanted one and then I made one for my daughter. My daughter suggested that I could sell these on an new site called Etsy!
I put one together and posted it and just 30 minutes later it was sold to a buyer in Alabama. The rest, as they say...is history.
It's been lots of fun hunting for vintage knick-knacks, fabrics, notions & buttons. Hubby and I love poking around at flea markets and shops for materials as well as accessories for our home & garden. I also feature some vintage and up-cycled treasures I discover in our travels that might be of interest to my etsy shoppers.
I love the creative outlet this shop gives me and the opportunity it affords me to connect with people from around the world! It always surprises me when somebody as far away as Japan purchases and appreciates my little creations.
I love the little vintage figures I discover for Their charming details and the mystery of their origins! Putting these little treasures together with vintage notions & fabrics to create something useful and pleasing is a blessing to me and, I hope, to others who visit my shop.
I guess that is why I chose "Blessings & Joy" as my tag line!
