Over the years, I’ve come to appreciate accent chairs’ contribution to the comfort level of a room, as well as their ease of planning a room’s layout. While I enjoy a comfy sofa to sit/lounge/nap on, I also enjoy sitting in a comfortable chair while reading or visiting. Chairs come in all shapes and sizes so you are bound to find one that fits your home.

Long gone are the matchy-matchy suites of furniture with their sofa, loveseat and chair combination (if you were lucky you got the coffee and end tables thrown in, too!). The versatility of chairs is why I suggest to clients purchasing new furniture to look toward chairs rather than a second sofa or loveseat. I have incorporated this in my own home as well.
Chairs make it easy to move furniture into another room where extra seating may be needed. They allow you more options when configuring your living room or den. They are especially appreciated when so many living rooms and dens have more than one focal point with a fireplace, television and, even, an outdoor view.

Chairs are also a great way to add another fabric pattern into the room. With the sofa having the largest fabric field, a chair’s fabric can tie in with it and, not only bring in a secondary color, but help move that color around the room. A comfortable chair with a little whimsy attached to it, can make for an interesting piece in an otherwise traditional room.

Hi Kathy - Love your updates! Accent chairs add such a punch of interest to a room. These would make "happy" additions!
Thanks Wanda - I'm getting there. Just a few more tweeks! I loved these chairs because they are so different. I like when something like this can bring a smile to my face.
Kathy,
You're so right about the versatility of chairs compared to larger pieces. Adore the shape and fabric on the Anthropologie chair on the right, and of the Designers Guild chairs.
Thanks for treasure hunting for us --
Kathy
Thank you Kathy! I love to see chairs with unique shapes like some of these. So different and would really add some interest to a room.
Kathy
These are great! I love Accent Chairs they really add that special something to a room.
Love the updates on your blog - I am still working on mine...
Thanks Kimberly! I like working with accent chairs because they do make planning a room easier and you can even sometimes fit them in those odd little spots like entry foyers.
I think blogs are always a work in progress! : )
I love adding pop to a room with exciting chairs such as these...Thanks for sharing!
I think an accent chair is a great addition to any home decor! great post!
I love that they are so different than what you would normally see. Pop is right, Marie!
Thanks Tiaa! I agree!
Great chairs!! Especially love the two from Anthropoligie.
I agree, accent chairs work better in a room than a second sofa or loveseat. Partly because of their flexibility, and partly because they're a great way to add shape, colour, texture, and pattern to a room.
Thanks for checking out my turquoise post :-)
Have a great weekend!!
Kelly
Thanks Kelly! I love finding chairs like these that have interesting shapes. I think they can add some interest to a room; and yes, the flexibility of using them is one of the things I like best about using chairs.
I love the fruity colors of the Anthropologie chairs!
Aren't they refreshing Dale? I loved the shape of those chairs too!
I LOVE accent chairs!
Now, if I could only talk Hubs into one. Specifically that orange one from Anthropologie - yummy.
Welcome to SiTS! Em
