Just to give you an idea of what I was working with, I'm including this "before" picture. This room had been a peachy pink color until I fell in love with material I found on eBay, which became the stationery panels in the picture. The fabric was about $40.00 {I wouldn't have paid more than that for fabric on eBay.} The teal I originally chose was too bright and more of an aqua, so I had to start over with the paint. The color made me feel very restless in this room. If I count this first disaster of painting, it would be about $40.00 for 2-gallons of paint.
So, we changed things around as well. The two side storage armoire pieces moved into the sitting room/closet and surrounding my husband's dresser look like they are built-ins. We got rid of the middle storage/mirrored piece altogether. I bought new paint SherwinWilliams' Martha Stewart "Milk Pail" {a line they don't carry anymore}, so that was another $40.00 {total of $80.00 for paint alone}.
The chair in the corner was actually there in the "before", it was just covered with throw pillows. I bought a new shade for that lamp and moved into the sitting/closet area {not counting this since it left the room}.
I have 6-5x7 Fern prints over my bed {in a 3 over 3 pattern}. I got the bookplate-looking prints off eBay - 7 for about $15.00; the mats {eBay} were 7 for maybe $12.00; and the frames {also eBay} were about $35-40.00 {I'll figure the high end} ~ so these 6 {really 7} framed and matted prints cost $67.00. The 7th is on the other side of the room on a smaller wall.
I got the lamps from JC Penney, on sale/clearance, for $29.99 each. The side tables came from Bombay {boo-hoo} when they had one of their infamous $49.00 table promotions. I got the Queen comforter set from Home Goods for $49.99 {comforter, dust ruffle, 2 shams}.
The fabric that started this whole thing, when transformed into panels {4 panels total} cost me about $350.00. Grand total, not including the bed, chair or roman shades {because I can't remember at all what I might have paid for 4 of those} comes to $744.97.

Great room makeover! I love the new serene spa feel. Thanks for sharing!
Thank you! And that was exactly the feel I was going for originally!
Ack! I forgot the decorative pillows on the bed! 3 @ $19.99 and one at $12.99 from Home Goods - adding another $72.96 to the total.
Love the tranquility that exudes from the room!
Thank you Mrs. Querido! It is truly a great room to de-stress in at the end of the day.
OK, I LOVE your room! It's really wonderful. I did a similar aqua color in my bathroom and at first, I said the same thing -- ACK! -- but it's really grown on me now. But I really love the soft colors you chose. And -- I'm sorry about your 4 gallons of paint just to get the one, but it makes me feel better -- we painted our living room and our bedroom twice, and went through about 12 samplers ($4/ea!) before finding the right colors for each room. Paint, while it makes such a great impact, is pricey! I feel your pain (and the satisfaction at getting it right finally!).
Thanks Julianne! I should have done a sample of that first color; I might have saved some time and money. You can believe I do samples all the time now!
I am really happy with the color now. I even told my hubby I want to use it in the new master when we eventually down-size.
Lovely transformation, Kathy! Such a serene and tranquil room!

Hey Kathy,
Love the wall color, the room looks great....well done, Carmen
Thank you, Victoria! It truly is.
I love the wall color too, Carmen. I guess the repainting worked out in the end!
Kathy,
Love the new look. Very calming. And I see we're sort of neighbors -I'm also on LI.
Thank you, Dawn! I do visibly relax when I'm in that room - even if I'm just putting laundry away!
You know, I came across your Greentique post a few days ago and wondered if you were from Long Island.
Lovely room! I love seeing bef & afters, just forget to take them most of time myself. And just like decorating shows on TV, it is great to know what a room costs by the time you are done. It is a very serene feeling, great job.
I still adore the old Martha colors. I have a card from KMart of her colors way back when. They are still fabulous and I match them often.

Donna ~ I'm thinking of painting my own swatch card of that color so I will always have it for matching. Plus, I could probably right down the information off the lid, which might also work for matching.
Thank you for your comment on my bedroom. We love it and my hubby is actually in agreement for using it again in a next house.
Hello Kathy - love your beautiful room. It looks so calming and comfy. A special place to "retreat" at the end of the day. You really did a fabulous job. Thank you for sharing!
Blessings,

Thanks Marie! It is absolutely a "retreat".
Wow, you did a great job with this room. I love how calm and serene it feels. The wall color is just gorgeous, and the room seems so much bigger.
Thank you! I think moving the big storage pieces made the difference in space. They work really well in the closet area, so it worked out.
