Today’s Thrifty Finds, Tomorrow’s Treasured Memories

I made a trip back to Goodwill, after having already been there two days prior, to see if they still had something that I couldn’t get off my mind, but hadn’t bought at the time.  They did {Yay}!  I got it and I will be sharing that project/transformation at some point.  Lesson learned ~ if I pick it up and am looking at it, there must be something there.   Buy it!

Meanwhile, you know you can’t leave without walking around.  So I proceeded to look around and you won’t believe what I found.  Again.  {Ripped up tissue box for storage courtesy of me}!

All these little china pieces were on a dessert sized plate and had shipping tape wrapped all around to hold them in place.   There are about three different china tea sets here {and a little mug}.

There’s this little Alice in Wonderland set.

This one only has three tea cups and the creamer.

And this one has each piece.  And then there was this crazy mug ~ we’ll make the sock monkey use that one.

All the pieces above cost me $3.99!

The one I got last trip had little saucers for the tea cups {shown above}.   That set was $3.99.  I think this is enough now!  This child isn’t even here yet and I have to look into getting or making a tiny china cabinet!  I’ve got at least three little tea sets for my future granddaughter to pick from when she and Grandma have tea.  Frugal, thrifty purchases today to become treasured memories tomorrow!

It's very easy to spoil grandchildren - - and lots of fun, too. She will have a wonderful time having tea with you someday!

Oh, how sweet!!! I'll have to post a photo of my childhood china playset, complete with turine . . I think . . it's been awhile since I've looked at it. Maybe tomorrow I'll pull the box out!

I'm so glad that what you wanted was still there . . unlike my cabinet, LOL

Can't wait to see it revealed!

You definitely found some treasures! The tea sets are adorable. You were very fortunate to have found what you wanted when you went back to Goodwill...many times that was NOT the case for me, even when I went back in a matter of hours! Can't wait to see what it is and how you transform "it"!

I love these sweet little dishes! How fun!! I had to laugh about the future granddaughter...I have already started my collection of things I need to keep for my grandkids one day...my oldest is only 14 soon to be 15 and yes...it will be quite a while before I get to do that, but I have to plan ahead! lol I am glad you went back...I have left a store and couldn't stop thinking about something...that is when you know it is meant to be yours!

Hugs,
Victoria

Another great find. They are sooo adorable! I don't think I ever had a tea set as a child, or I don't remember. Probably not, though, I was a tomboy!

Good thing it was there when you went back. I kept thinking about a table I saw the last time I was at the GW back a few weeks ago. I'm kicking myself I didn't get it. I'm sure it's gone by now.

I have a feeling that new little granddaughter of yours might just get spoiled a bit once she arrives! ;o)

I have that Alice in Wonderland tea set! I played with it when I was little, and then my mom mailed all my childhood momentos to me in February -- so it's now at my house. What a great deal!

Hi Kathy, cute tea sets! Especially the Alice in Wonderland one. I bet that one is worth some money right now with the movie and all. I saw the clock at Pier 1 and loved it! If I wasn't overloaded with birds I would go get one. Still might...lol. Kristen

Boy you sure find the best finds. I have an order for 100 pincushions for a bridal shower this Jan. so I've been on the hunt for teacups. I have 18 so far. Thanks for stopping by and reading the tute. Hope you got a chance to go and read the tutorial at,”It’s So Very Cheri”. Here’s the link:

You should try to recover a lampshade it’s pretty easy.

How sweet! These are so adorable! You granddaughter will cherish them one day. I have recently found three sets that I originally intended to put in my antique booth . . . well, they are still sitting on my dining room table. I can't bring myself to sell them :D
