Fixing Some Curtains

I have these tab top drapes in our den where we watch television.  At night I slide them closed.  When I babysit my granddaughter we are in this room.

She is such a character!  She will hide behind the curtains {with her feet showing} and waits for me to find her, then cracks up laughing.  Having had these drapes for a few years, and with all the action they are getting, the piece that hangs from the rod came apart.

So, I thought this would be a good opportunity to update them and I ordered three fabric samples with rust in them {which is the color of the drapes} to see which I liked better.  I’ve pinned them to the one panel.

Too much gray blue.  This one is out.

The background of this fabric matches the drapes perfectly and I really like this design.

I had hoped for a better swatch on this one, but you can see the bird {and there are birds randomly throughout this fabric} is rust and also goes very well with the existing drapes.

Then I remembered that I picked out the second fabric because of its reverse.

This would make for a nice contrast at the top.  And, look at the trim remnant I found!  It works with this fabric on both sides, as well as the existing drape.

So it’s between the second (its reverse} and third fabrics to do an attached valance piece with some trim and to then hang them from clip rings.  I’ll be back to show you which one I wind up ordering and how it looks finished {it may be a few weeks, but I’ll be back!}.  Which one do you think I should go with?

Your granddaughter sounds like the cutest little girl!

I think the criss-cross revered would add a great contrast. The third one would also look good - but it may be hard to get the pattern to fall the way you would like.

I can't wait to see what you end up doing!

I like the second swatch, because of the reverse pattern, too! Plus, I like the pattern in general. Can't wait to see the end product! XOXO ~Liz

I like the one with the reserse pattern. I like the bird one too, but would have to see a larger panel, before I could say...

Can't wait to see what you decide!

Hi Kathy,
When I saw the three swatches all together in the first picture I immediately went for the one with the bird on it. I liked the middle one but thought it needed more contrast and then you go and show us the reverse side :)
I like both the 2nd and 3rd swatches but I think my fav is still the bird print. Look forward to seeing the finished drapes.

I love the second and the third ones. Both are stunning and I love the contrast at the top with a little trim. Well, I guess you could tell that since both my LR and FR are that way. Can't wait to see what you do. Hugs, Marty

I definitely think you should go for the bird print. I have a different color combination of it and I love it; such a pretty linen fabric. I also think it contrasts better with your wall color. The cream is pretty but may get lost and blend in with wall.

Hi Kathy,
All your choices look like they would be great. It would be hard for me to choose.
Aren't grandkids fun??? They're so cute when they're little.

Thanks so much for visiting my blog!

At least it is a really good excuse for those drapes to be in need of some repair... lots of fun with your grand daughter!

I was all for the one with the rust bird, until you showed the backside of the other fabric. Now I like them both. So I'll stay tuned to see which one you go with :)
