While I was putting some panels together for my sunroom {and sighing because I have six more to do}, I decided to play with the glue a little bit by hemming the toile fabric I want to use as a skirt around my sewing table.
I did it before I went to bed, so it would be dry in the morning. I used this stuff. I like it!
Using my staple gun, I attached the top {unfinished edge} underneath the table top. I kind of mooshed the fabric together as I went and stapled.
I’m sorry these pictures are so dark, but the lighting is horrible in this area of the condo and there is no natural light back here. I’m working on getting better ceiling fixtures and that lamp will be called into use, too.
I had two widths of fabric that I had meet in the center.
This way, I can do this. And store stuff underneath but still be able to get to it fairly easily.
As soon as I find my yard stick, I am thinking of putting a finishing nail on each end of the table top edge and putting my yard stick there. It would work great to store it, it would be right there if I have to measure something while I’m sewing, plus it will be a little bit of a decorative element while it sits there.
If I had done two more widths of the fabric, it would have been quite ruffley looking, but this works just fine for me.
The lampshade doesn’t know it yet, but she’s next for a makeover!

Watch out, lamp shade; you're getting a new do! It's so lovely! I just adore toile. Never goes out of style. Always elegant.

Your space is looking great Kathy! I love the toile.
We must share the same taste. I also have a skirted table, in my laundry room and it hides the towel hamper. I love the chair cover. I have two from Ballards that I mix and match in my bedroom. I wish I had more and would love to have a couple chairs like that in my dining room.
It's so much fun seeing how you are doing in your new home. Thanks for your comment. I slept fitfully last night and just need to be on the mend.
Hi Kathy!
I'm stopping by from bnotp and wanted to say hello! I'm the project next to yours, mending fences.
Your project turned out great. Like the fabric!
Very nice blog you have.
God bless,

Hi Kathy,
I love the idea of skirting the table for storage underneath. I also love the pretty brown toile that you are using. Such a sweet corner for your creations.

I love toile! This is perfect for your table! I love your craft room! You have everything close at hand! You've done a great job on your new space!
I think I have that same fabric. Is it celery green and cream?
Hi Kathy,
The fabric looks fantastic on your skirted table!!!

Dee
That looks absolutely gorgeous Kathy! I love that fabric! :-)

Oh this kind of project and fabric is right up my alley! I love the brown toile mixed with the small checked fabric on the chair. I am a glue girl too so I could actually do this project! Ha! BTW, if you want a faster drying glue, try Fabri-tac. It is my favorite. It dries quickly after you use it, so you can use your project more quickly. Just passing that along. It's available at Walmart and Michaels. Thanks for stopping by my blog and visiting me too.
Wow, what a difference that skirt makes -- it looks great!

I love skirted tables and the fabric you chose is great! My mom had something like that for her make up table with mirror and all in the 50's. Such a beautiful job you did...you could even make one for the Christmas season! Thanks for dropping by and for your lovely comment. Have a super week.

You did a beautiful job, Kathy! I love the skirted table ... has just the right amount of "poofiness," too. You always impress me with your creativity ... look forward to seeing what you do to the lampshade, too!
You did a great job "mooshing" that fabric, It's gorgeous!

Isn't it amazing how toile fabric can turn anything into a sophisticated and stylish treasure? Looks wonderful--I like that it's not too ruffle-y!
It looks so pretty Kathy! I love the colours you are using for this room...it makes it feel so calm and warm! I adore your little space...I think nooks are just the best! Angie xo
