I was eying these owls at the local antique mart. Two weeks ago they were reduced to $8.00, but I stuck to my not spending on unnecessary items and didn’t buy them. Even though I was thinking how Anthropology-ish they could look. I tried not to listen to them speak to me, “Who will take us home?”, “Who will make us beautiful?”, “Who will love us again?”.
This past week while trolling the antique mart, they were still there and back to their $15.00 a piece price. Again, they “Who’d” me with their questions. Saturday I went back, hoping the booth vendor would be there to make a deal.
She was. She did. I got both owls for $15.00. Apparently, I am “Who” will do all those things for them!
They are very heavy and I am thinking they are/were outdoor statuary. They are both the same exact design except one is painted differently than the other, although I don’t think it is painting that an individual who owned them did. My daughter loves owls and when these are done, they will fly my coop for hers. I think they would be a “hoot” as bookends!
Surprisingly, I was unable to find owls in the way I am picturing doing these on the Anthropology site, but from what I’ve seen of Anthropology items, they will probably fit right in once I’m done with them. I’ll be showing them off next week!

Loving these! Looking forward to the transformation!
Love the owls! And thank you for your sweet comment on my little green table. I've been reading your blog for a while now and I feel so honored that someone whose blog I like likes something I did. Thank you!

These look lovely. I would spray paint them a glossy white.
What a great find. Not a bad price either. I am excited to see you vision come to life with them.
I can't wait to see what you will do with them! I think they will make great bookends! Amazing how we fall in love with stuff and then can't get it off our minds. I think some things are meant to be! ;-D

I got a big smile from your title - so cute! Looking forward to seeing what is in store for them!
White? I am telling my age but I may of had some of them in the 1970's.
Those are cool! I can see them painted some nice bright color.
Great find!
I passed some by lst year and hagve been kicking myself for walking away!
Kathy I can't wait to see what you do with them!
They are a very wise purchase! Love them.
I stopped at a new 99 c store in Patchogue, on my way home from CTS. ( I still can't believe you never went there when you lived so close!). Anyhoo, I found beautiful Anthropology glasses for yes, 99 cents. The label was still on them, 8.00. Green, made in Portugal with a raised flower! I was happy!
Have a great Ohio weekend! It was 60 here yesterday!
Glad they found the right home. lol
Can't wait to see what you do with these. They brought back memories of when I owned a ceramic shop and painted quite a few of these for customers.
Hope you have a wonderful weekend
Love

Hi, Kathy. I can see why these guys were "haunting" you--they're very cool! But I have to tell you, your storytelling was very clever--I enjoyed it. :) ~Zuni
Those are super cute Kathy. I love owls too!
It seems your patience paid off! Whenever I see owls, it makes me think of my dad. After my parents divorced in the 70's, he moved out and set-up his own place. He decorated it with alot of owls (that were popular then). I'm sure your transformation will make them like new again!
What a great find...can't wait to see how you trasnform them :o)
Have a great weekend!

Hugs, Maki
