A Petite Stool “Moo”kover

SONY DSC

I found this little stool a few weeks ago at a garage sale.  It was cute and sturdy, but not quite my style.

I painted it with Old White chalk paint and decided to try using Acetone to transfer the image. This is another transfer method where you have to use a toner copy.  I print mine out and take them with me when I go to the library, and copy several at once so I have some on hand.  To pay homage to the cow that was originally on there, I went with this image that I found on Pinterest.

It came out a bit lighter than I would have liked {and not as sharp as I would have liked} but I decided to leave it, especially after I noticed that for some reason the top of the stool had started to crackle.  I didn’t add any kind of crackle medium, it just appeared on its own.

I sanded it just a bit in spots to distress it and then applied some clear and dark waxes.

I think the lightness of the image gives it the appearance of being older and having faded over time.

It will be “moo”ving into the booth!

Just a darling stool that will be flying out the door. It turned out great and the crackle showing through was a plus for the aged part. Love it.

Well your cow is so much better than the cow that was on there! :)

The lightness of the image does make it look old and faded - just perfect!

I love cows! I've been looking for a big cow print to hang in my dinning room but no luck (at least not one I can afford). I did find a small one at TJX!
