I wanted to make a Mad Hatter Hat to use as a prop for the upcoming Mad Hatter Tea Party that I participate in over at Vanessa’s Fanciful Twist. I had some extra cardboard pieces from when I made the Frosty Hats here, as well as a fabric that I wanted to use up in my fabric bins.
On the Frosty Hat I used brown paper bags torn into strips on one, and tissue paper on the other, applied with Mod Podge, and then painted black. For the Mad Hatter Hat, I wound up using hot glue since the Mod Podge didn’t seem to be working too well with the fabric I was using.
I bought this ribbon to use around the brim and I hot glued it in spots to keep it in place on the hat.
I then made up a hat label on the computer, printed it on cardstock, cut it out, and just tucked it into the ribbon. I also added in four hat pins that I had bought a few years ago off Etsy.
I have another project for the tea party that I will be working on and will share that with you soon.
