New Light Fixture

I’ve wanted one of those open lantern style light fixtures for a little while now and with a Joss & Main credit burning a whole in my internet pocket, I checked out the site on Saturday.  I had gotten an email that lighting was on sale from Maxim Lighting and, while they are not lantern shaped, was pleasantly surprised to find they had two different kinds available.

This one has the color I like ~ Oil Rubbed Bronze and was still a good deal at $72.95,but I went with the slightly smaller version {21 long by 16 wide} in the silver for $42.95.

I really like how it looks in the Oil Rubbed Bronze, though, so I will most likely be spray painting this one.  This will make for a great foyer entrance fixture.

The Boo Boo Box

Fair warning:  This post has nothing whatsoever to do with interior decorating.  I am sharing a little Boo Boo Box that I made {well, I made two; one for my daughter and one for me}.  This was a Grandma project for me this past week.

booboobox.image

This project utilizes a download offered by Free Pretty Things For You and an Altoid tin.  They’ve got some really cute vintage images over there!  Running With Glitter made the Boo Boo Box and you can find Kelly’s excellent instructions here.

I added the text and once I got the image size to fit the way I wanted it {in Photoshop}, I Mod Podged it to the top.  I will do the same to the inside cover image once we add emergency contact numbers.

I found a ribbon I had that fit the sides and applied that with Mod Podge as well.

I sanded the top a little bit and applied two pink hearts with some craft tacky glue, as a finishing touch.

I filled it with a Neosporin To Go and some Tinkerbell and fairy friends band-aids.

We are now boo boo ready!  Fits in a diaper bag and pocketbook with ease.  This is also a good idea if you like to keep some kind of kit in your car or pocketbook {for adults}.  You could add one of those little packets of Tylenol or Advil to your adult boo boo box.

What A Mess!

This is what I worked on this weekend!

DSC02862_2288

DSC02863_2289

This is all the stuff from the attic.  And it’s not even a very big attic!  I have to sort through and toss or “yard sale” box it.  I didn’t think I’d have enough for a yard sale, but apparently, I do.

DSC02865_2291

I have been ruthless! I’ve been throwing out papers left and right that I kept out of sentimental reasons but that sat in the attic for these past 20 years.  Except pictures; like this one of hubby and I at my bridal shower {were we ever this young!?}.

DSC02864_2290

Next is the stuff from the storage in the basement.

DSC02866_2292

Most of this is more recently used stuff, like Christmas decorations.  This has to be sorted through too, although I will probably be keeping most of it.

Next comes the fun part {she said sarcastically}.  Wiping down, cleaning up and holding the actual yard sale. I’m not really a yard sale throwing person, so it won’t be an all day affair, that’s for sure.  Whatever doesn’t sell will be donated to Goodwill or another worthy cause.

Ending tomorrow is my UPrinting.com giveaway for a rolled canvas print!
