Procrastinator Party ~ The After

You may recall my project for the Procrastinator Party over at The Inspired Room was/is 4 of these chairs. I'm doing the reverse of most people ~ going from white to brown.

Here they are with the seats removed and ready for painting.

This is the fabric that will be used on the seats.

These are the tools you will need if you are going to recover a seat on a chair like this.

Old fabric is off and new fabric is ready to be stapled on!

One down, three to go! {sigh}

All four seats are done. Painting is the next step. I was going to use the brown paint I had gotten for free from Glidden, but it wasn't working out. I had to get spray paint.

I just finished in time and it was not due to procrastinating. I would have been done Saturday, if my car battery didn't decide to die as I was heading out to get spray paint. But I perservered. Two of the seats are not attached. I laid them across for the pictures and when the paint is fully dried {probably tomorrow evening; it felt a little tacky to the touch} I'll screw them on.

Here they are! It looks like a line up.

The pictures are horrible and I apologize. It was dark out and, if I can get better pictures, I'll come back and edit them in.

One of these chairs I use at my vanity, so I wanted to make it pretty and girly. I added a sheer skirt {don't mind the dust, I was just a little busy reupholstering and painting chairs this week!}.

I think that if I join in next year, I'm going to pick a smaller project. In fact, I'm going to start this weekend ~ procrastinating over small projects. I am glad this project is finally done {it's been 2-3 years in the making} so I'm thankful for the nudge the party provided. Thanks Melissa!

I'm also linking up with Miss Mustard Seed's Furniture Feature Friday. It's her first one, so come visit and see all the great furniture redo's!

Hello Kathy,

The chairs look great! I really love the pattern. Those are the colors I am thinking about using in the guest bedroom. But just have not quite pulled it all together yet...

Thank you for sharing your project with us!

Thanks, Elaine! It will take me a little getting used to because they were white for so long.

That will look great, Tracy! I love mixing brown with other colors. I'm actually working with a client now that will have brown comob's in various rooms {they like brown}.

Hi Lisa! I love that fabric, too, and that is what had me want to do the chairs over in the first place.

Thanks, Christine! So glad I'm done!

Thank you, Beverly!

I was going to hold off on the skirt until after I posted, Maria, but I just wanted to get them done by this time.

Thank you, Butteryum! I'm so glad I finally got to use this fabric!

Thanks, Kasey! I do that sometimes {I'm such a rebel!}. I lived with them white for so long that I really needed a change and the brown goes better in my house than black would.

Thank you, Beth! I can't believe I did get them all done!

Thanks, Carolyn! I just kept thinking of how bad it would be if I failed ~ especially after proclaiming it!

Thank you,Tamera! I just used a basic brown spray paint from my local Sears Hardware, because trying to brush on my free brown paint from Glidden wasn't working and it would have taken me forever.

Love the chairs in brown. Goes to show that white is not always the best choice. Thanks for joining my blog. Can't wait to see your next project.

Thank you,Cindy! I love the fabric, too! The whole time I was doing these chairs, I kept thinking of a Hershey's chocolate bar.

Thanks, Jane! I thought they were warmer too.

@ Red Door Home ~ Thank you! The white didn't really fit in anymore, and I find I'm leaning toward the browns more.

Thank you, Ashlee ~ it's really an easy project that can make a big difference.

I absolutely agree, Blair. It just wasn't working with the sponge brush.

Thank you, Lee! The new color is growing on me.

The lines of those chairs are so pretty and are shown off so much better with their new dark color. Great makeover.

Thanks, Tracy! I've been debating whether or not to try rub and buff in a gold on the flowers on the back.

Thank you, Melissa! Thanks for hosting this "kick in the butt" party.

I'm glad to know I'm within the norm going from white to brown, Chelsea!

Thank you, {Simply} Susan! They do look very different now, don't they?

Thanks, Susan! I'm starting to love spray paint, too! {This could be a bad thing, though!}.
