Shopping

I stopped by Home Goods to do a quick look over for some things I will need to purchase for the client I am currently working with.  Of course, the turn over in Home Goods is quick, so by next week, everything could be totally different.  I also stopped by because I haven’t been in awhile and I’ve been wanting one of those tiered baskets.  Like this.

I’m going to Goodwill this weekend to drop some things off, so if I get lucky and see one there I will just return the Home Goods one.   They had quite a few different ones at Home Goods, but I stuck with this one at $12.99.  If I do wind up keeping it I may spray it Heirloom White.

In the stationary aisle I was really drawn to the different cocktail napkins.  Weird.  I know.  But the patterns and colors are so pretty and I was thinking they could probably be used for different projects {besides coasters}.  Here are some of the pretty packages I bought.

This one made me smile with the “It’s All About You Cupcake”.  It made me think of Night at the Museum with Mickey Rooney and how he called everyone “lunchbox”.

Loved this one just for the Eiffel Tower and Paris look to it, but the colors and flowers give it that vintagey, aged look.

The colors in the handbags are really fun looking in these napkins!

The dessert one I love the colors of and, of course, I whole-heartedly agree with the saying.

Finally, I got this package with my initial and the pink and green harlequin pattern.  One side of the package has a pink background to it

And the other side has a green background to it.

I read on someone’s blog {maybe a month ago} about a cocktail napkin swap, which would be so much fun with packages like these!  Edit:  Heather from Pixie Dust let me know that it was her blog I saw the swap mentioned on.  Thanks, Heather! If anyone knows of one, let me know ~ I’d love to join in.  Otherwise, I may just set one up myself toward the end of the Summer.  Interested?  Let me know.

Love the tiered basket. It's so versatile and easily changed out with spray paint. I love the napkins, I can't wait to see what you come up with using them.

Those tiered baskets are such a great way to store things but keep everything in reach. I think the one you bought would look perfect painted white.
Napkins are like works of art now, aren't they! I haven't cruised the stationary aisle but I think I should.

Hi Kathy,
The cocktail napkin swap sounds like fun!
I love all your sweet ones that you bought.
I also like the tired basket. But, I agree with you that if you keep it, paint it white.

I think your tiered pedestal thingy would look great heirloom white! Oh and did you know you could make stone coasters with your napkins? I just read about modge podging the napkins on tumbled marble/stone tiles you can get at Lowe's and then applying a sealer to it. Looks like you could make a ton of coasters!

You never know you might find one at G.W. just like I did. Home Goods is right around the corner and that is not a good thing!

I thought I left you a comment last night, but I guess not! Sorry! I love tiered baskets! I have one in the kitchen already but it's stacked and not tiered and would even use another one if I had it! I have also given one to a friend of mine for christmas that she absolutely adores. They are so funtional! I love how you are using this one and it is so cute too! I thought it was funny how you caught that about taking my DH's memory for approval to buy more. You already know me too well! I have to tell you he saw them today and said, hmm...I see you went back for the serving pieces! LOL! I just smiled and said, I sure did! :)) Hope your having a great weekend!

Very pretty tiered basket Kathy! I always enjoy shopping at Home Goods as well. I had one of those baskets in my cart at Ross and ended up putting it back. I need to go back for it.

We have never painted out front door since we moved in over four years ago now. I'm really not quite sure what to buy for it either. I'll have to check out Lowes soon. Show us yours.

Have a good evening. ~Melissa :)

Hey Kathy!
THanks for stopping by my blog today. I came to visit you and wow! You've got a great thing here! Those napkins are beautiful. I saw someone (don't remember where, but you could prob. google it) take napkins and layers of newsprint paper (like in the huge tablets) and plastic wrap, fuse it together with an iron to make their own cardstock. It was really neat! I think they opened the pad up, put the napkin down then layered the plastic wrap on top of that, then layered about 10 sheets or so of the paper on the top. Run the iron over it for a minute or so- no steam. Try it and see what you get, if you need to iron some more to get the right fuse you want. Let us all know how it comes out if you try it. I'd have done it by now - just out of curiosity- but cant find the newsprint pads as of yet.
Have a good night!!

I saw on a blog where the person had separated the layers of the napkins and used them to Modge Podge onto things. I want to use that idea to put onto some 4x4 tiles, and make them into coasters for stocking gifts at work this Christmas. If I was smart, I'd start that project now, instead of waiting until Nov o Dec. Jill Clements
