How A Vase Becomes A Cloche

I had purchased this pillar candle holder when I went to the Pottery Barn Outlet back in August.  It’s a good size all around to be a base for a cloche and that was my intention when I bought it.

IMG_7870_4290It was just this weekend that I realized I had a vase that was put away with my Halloween decorations that would actually work as the cloche.  It just needed a knob of some kind on the top, so I pulled out what I had on hand.  Here are the models for you.

Glass knob

I decided to go with a glass knob that I had left over from when I painted my pine armoire black and changed out the original wood knobs to glass knobs.  This looks the best out of the three, I think.

I used a glass adhesive because all those glass vases and candleholders that I glued together last year with other adhesives came apart!  That was not fun!  Now I make sure I have a glass adhesive on hand, and that was how I fixed all the other hurricanes and such I made last year.

IMG_7963_4342 I used one of the Fall pinecone fillers I bought last year in it and put it on my entry foyer chest.

Done!  What do you think?  A cloche from a vase.  I love it!  So next time Marty at A Stroll Thru Life has a cloche party ~ I’m ready!

Love it Kathy! I am also in awe because a few weeks back when the inlaws were in town they brought me a gift from The Hubster's 87 yr old grandmother who we loving call Grandma Lillian. You will not believe what it was!!?? The exact same little clock you have! I love that little clock and could not believe she would know that I would love it! Did you purchase yours if so where at? I would love to get another one.

Yikes-I just bought this same candle stand at the PB outlet 2 weeks ago. Now I have to take a second look at my vases and see if I can convert one to a cloche as you have done. I loved the addition of the glass knob...the perfect touch. All of your ideas are inspirational but I think I will really accomplish this one Kathy. Thanks for sharing this.

Well I know what I'll be doing when I get home this evening... searching through my candle holders to see what can be transformed. I love Mondays when I can ramble through everyone's fantastic blogs to see what's new. Thanks for the great idea.

thanks for the comment on my candles-seriously, i had to ban my dad from buying more for me. the man would "walk the mall" for exercise and would buy one every chance he got if i let him!
